I bought this book last week, and my husband started to listen to it before I did! I'm enjoying the book so far.
What a fascinating book. I couldnt stop listening to it. I always enjoy audiobooks that are read by the author, but this is one of the most personal i have ever heard. Great audibook.
Let's face it, these authors aren't paying me, so there's no need to lie!!
I thought that Lowe was at the popint in his career where he'd still feel the need to "hold back" and "sugar coat" certain aspects of his life...boy, was I wrong!! He was refreshingly honest, thoughtful, and insightful about his life to this point. If you enjoy hearing about the long, hard road to the top of Hollywood, I strongly recommend this! Well read, as well, which I guess should be a given.
First of all I love it when the author is also the narrator so kudos to Rob Lowe for putting his voice to his words. Secondly, it was hard to turn it off. His stories pull you in and you want more. I loved that he kept it dignified throughout while still telling such personal details. This will be one of those books I listen to once a year. Loved it.

One of the best. Perhaps this is because my expectations were low, since I have never listened to a celebrity audiobook, but the many good reviews here prompted me to sample it, and then purchase it. I was not dissapointed.
Rob Lowe. In addition to the many stories he has to tell, he does great impersonations!
No, first time.
Not the Rob Lowe you thought you knew.
One of those books I was going to be embarrassed to admit I had read. I was wrong. This is one of the best autobiographies I've come across in a while. Rob Lowe's life has certainly been interesting. Most memorable for me was the Brat Pack period. I, too, was in my early/mid 20's during the 80's and I remember that time with fondness, how we thought we had it all figured out. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Rob Lowe is actually quite a gifted storyteller, and his narration is outstanding. His voice is soothing, and his diction is impeccable. I would recommend listening to this book much more so than reading it, as I believe some of the essence would be lost on a mere printed page.
I loved hearing all the behind the scenes of the "brat pack" this was all happening when I was growing up, young adult years, and so fun to look back and remember these movies, movie starts, and all that Rob went through.
His Narration is so fun, really adds to the book.
I can't pick just one. But I couldn't put the book down (or on pause) during the Outsiders chapters! I loved every minute! I got everyone around me hooked, including my husband and his cousin on a 3 hour drive!
From a guy who doesn't have time to read books, I had a wonderful time listening to this story. I would sit in the car after I got to the office just not wanting to stop listening.
Well written, enjoyable, and personable. I like how Rob Lowe says the interactions he appreciates and looks for the most are sincere ones and connecting with people on a deeper level. He demonstrates that through his story-telling. His book has a feeling of openness that makes one feel like old chums.
Highly recommended. Took a gamble on this title since I'm not particularly interested in celebrity memoirs, but the great reviews sealed the deal. I'm so glad I purchased this remarkable book. Rob Lowe is a great articulate story teller and captured my attention right away. He has a true gift in translating details and making them interesting, relevant and poignant to the storyline. At the end of chapter 11, the great crying scene, Rob had ME in tears! I was also surprised by his intelligence, quite frankly; and even though we are political polar opposites, I respected the portrayal of his views in a non-threatening, non-grandstanding, and very atypical celebrity style. His memoir is fresh, funny, humble (whoda thunk?) and brilliant. My one and only criticism... Rob, honey, please... It's "height" not "heighth." Cringed every time you mispronounced the word, which seemed unnecessarily often. Other than that... your book is pure gold. Enjoyed it. Thanks!
