The sound of Rebecca Lowman's voice is fine, but the clipped, staccato, rushed way of speaking left me quite irritated. Most of the characters sounded the same, which made it hard to figure out who was talking if their name wasn't mentioned. It was difficult to tell which gender was speaking, they all sounded like women.
Everything had a rushed, hurried quality to it as if it were all high drama. 15 plus hours of that is way too much for me. I had read the book some time back and enjoyed it, but Ms Lowman's way of narrating killed the book for me. I don't know if she is new to narrating or not, but I won't be buying anymore books with her as the narrator.
Another spell binder. by Nora Roberts. Excellent characters, story line, humor, love interest, and intrigue.
The narrator did an excellent job and I found all the characters recognizable by their voice characterization.
Ended up listening well into the night so I could hear the end.
Well crafted as always by Nora Roberts . It has the right amount of romance and intrigue to keep you listening until the last word.
I didn't read the print book - just the audio book
Similar to Witness - strong female lead who can and does stand her ground - despite what fate throws at her.
Ms. Lowman brings the characters to life - giving them a voice (literally and figuratively) in the story.
If it were possible, I would take Dobie out to dinner - he seems like he would be a hoot to spend time with.
Worth the listen - keeps you on the edge of your seat just enough without being over the top.
Great read story, I think my favorite of Nora's. It was strong and unexpected as well as exciting.
I wouldn't necessarily say so. I own both and unfortunately I do get distracted while listening and sometimes miss things when I read them in the book.
I really like both main charaters, Rowan and Gul. I laughed out loud many times from some of their exchanges.
I have not, but she does a fantastic job.
I liked the whole book.
I thought the story line was great. Yes it was about smoke jumpers, but isn't it great that you can learn new things while reading a great story? I have a whole new appreciation when I see wildfires and the people who put them out.
