...I got past the title and found it to be great fun. Not just simple monsters, but a variety of interesting ones. One thing I really appreciated over many other similar works of fiction is that the author really knows his firearms. He doesn't just throw around cool-sounding gun brands and models, he knows a wide variety of less know guns that the characters being gun nuts would know and respect. He also avoids the TV/Movies over exaggeration of the effects of bullets (I'll give a little leeway since it is a fictional novel about monsters).
First time listening to a book by Larry Correia. I really enjoyed the story, and the narrator, Oliver, also did a terrific job... listening at 1.5x speed, otherwise the narration moves too slow. But the speed thing applies to most audio books.
For people who like this book, I would recommend the Zombie Fallout series by Mark Tuff, and I would recommend this book to people who liked that series. But seriously people, listen to your audio books at 1.5x and you will enjoy them much more.
I will continue to buy books in this series.
I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. The narrator did a great job and the storyline was great also. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
If Dresden is a Netflix or HBO original series then MHI is a summer blockbuster. Awesome action, likable characters, and good clean fun.
The Dresden files. If Dresden is a Netflix or HBO original series then MHI is a summer blockbuster. Same sense of fun, adventure, and darkness. MHI's plots don't seem as intricate as Dresden's.
If the opening chapter/fight of this book doesn't hook you then I don't even know what to say.
Ignore the naysayers who claim the book pushes a political agenda. MHI loves guns. That is it, that is the only "politics" in the book. Unless you find gun porn offensive you should be fine.
