A lot of good characters... Good and bad... and a really good story. Earl, Owen, Franks, and crew keep you listening!
Another one of my top 5 narrators... You'll like him!
Buy it... the whole series is good!
There is an old movie making quote - "A good film should start with an earthquake and work its way up to a climax". I think Correia took it to heart when he wrote this book. The opening battles were great. Then it just never let up. Like my headline said, almost too much.
Had it been a movie it would have been exhausting if watched at a theater, not being able to pause.
Story was OK. Villain was great. New characters and races (go gnomes) were fun and interesting and made even better with Oliver Wyman's outstanding narration.
All in all a good listen. Will buy next book.
I'm a big fan of si-fi, but I'm finding that a love for mysteries budding up in me. I also like a lot of nonfiction.
Great story line, and a whole lot of action. Went through the entire series twice.
This book reads like watching a fun B-movie. Not complicated, the characters aren't very complex, but it is fun and entertaining. I actually liked the first book a little better than this one. Some of the concepts and action are a little to unbelievable for me, though it was clearly never intended to be a realistic believable series. If you don't want to think, and just want an action packed entertaining story with plenty of explosions, then this story fits the bill.
The narrator does a good job once again, no complaints here!
Yes! There is something for everyone in this series. You will want to keep listening well into the night even when you know you should be a responsible adult and get some sleep before going back to work!
Everything! After I finished book one I immediately bought two more. I didn't think it was possible for Larry Correia to be able to top the first book but so far he has surprised me. Each book gets better and better!
It is hard to pick a favorite. I like them all. I do like Sam and Milo a lot. I also like Franks yeah I know he's a Fed but he is growing on me.
I did laugh a few times. It kept me entertained! I'll admit I almost cried in one part but I will leave that out of the review as it is a spoiler.
I love Oliver Wyman's narrations very gifted at what he does.
It's hard to top a freshman effort firing on all cylinders, the creates a new universe and wets if cataclysm and apocalypse on the grandest of scales, and carry it soundly into the sequel.
Correia ratchets it up to 11 & goes for broke. necromancers, more Lovecraftian Elder God's mixed w Robert E Howards sense of righteous fury.
violence, honor, blood, fury, get paid.
I enjoyed this book but it was a little slow and predictable at times. Narration was great.
