YEP. I mean this stuff is cheesy but like in the way the show Arrow is bad but good. It's so action moviey and filled with tropes and cliches but FUN. You can't tell if the author aware of how bad is it but I hope not because that's kinda what makes it good. I went from the 1st book immediately to the second, the third one lost me a bit because it shifts main characters from the big dumb hero to the cheesy southern accent father figure but I might be sucked back in if the mood strikes.
This is a great series. There's definitely some language in this book (though, it seemed less than the first one).
Pitt and MHI find themselves facing the past in order to save the future. Pitt goes through hell and back again to save the world from the old ones again. We learn more about some of the other characters in the cast in this book, and it makes us want to spend even more time with them.
I caught myself laughing quite a bit with this one. I loved the "Troll" character, and how he spoke. I listened to the audible version, and that probably helped. The jokes were awesome.
All in all, a great book if you like supernatural (the show) type scenes/banter. Great stuff!
There were some great characters and fabulous moments. I really liked the "Troll."
Everything about the "Troll..." The Gnome scene was probably the best. I loved it.
The "Monster Hunter" series is something that your sane voice is telling you to hate, but the sheer ridiculousness of the story coupled with the over-the-top machismo and cheesiness somehow overrides that voice. In the end, you find yourself thoroughly enjoying the ride and groaning as required.
This book is like a comic book sans art work. What is fun is how the author has liberally pulled upon other references (think H.P. Lovecraft, Bram Stoker, etc.) and brought them along for the ride. The second book in the series, it did a good job of continuing the story from the first book. Although this book could stand on it's own, you'll be much better situated if you start with book one.
In summary. if you have a good sense of humour and can tolerate ridiculous situations and dialogue, you will enjoy this book. If this isn't your cup of tea, then avoid this series. I'm just crazy enough to have found it very enjoyable.
I like the way Larry Correia writes. His character often has conversations with himself that I've had with myself and I find it hilarious. He keeps the pace action packed and there aren't any dull moments.
Earl Harbinger. King of the Werewolves, enough said.
He did all of them well.
Plot turns and action continually keep you in a state of being on a "cliffhanger."
Very good read. Nothing silly like Love struck sparkly vampires. Vampires eat their girlfriends as it should be. Starts out fast... lags a little about 2/3 in, but ends in a bang.
I am flying through this series. Action, Humor, Monsters, excellent storytelling. What more could I ask for? Correia has created a world and characters that I just can't get enough of.
I enjoy reading -romance, mystery & paranormals. Some of my favorite audios are: Harry Potter, Fablehaven, Cat & Bones & JD Robb.
Lawn gnomes are hilarious!
Characters are memorable and very well done.
Don't miss this action packed romp!
Fantastic story with enjoyable narration.
Absolutely, provided my friend liked fun and had an LOT of testosterone! The gunplay and creative weapons are what drive the book, but the characters are fun and the plot - as silly as it is - is engrossing. The book has no deep meaning and is nothing other than play, but as such it is perfect.
G-Nome is hysterical but Earl Harbinger again takes the cake for me.
Well, you've got to listen to Monster Hunter International first, but once you do this book is a wonderful, escapist listen. The narration is perfect and the characters are surprisingly deep - but the action is unending and always fun. It's cotton candy listening but if you like this sort of thing and a flawless narrator, you won't go wrong.
I'm a fan of fantasy both epic and contemporary, I cant get enough of it!
The gnomes. And Mosh
When Owen is bit by a Zombie
Everything. Great voices and excellent emotion
I laughed a lot. Great sense of humor
Kowalski, someone's looking at my profile. Find them. Rico, time for boom boom. Private, send the family a funeral bouquet.
Just listened to this again and was reminded how awesome Oliver Wyman does with this story.
