I usually expect sequels to be less impressive than the original. This is not the case with "Vendetta" which is as equally good as the original. Fun story if you like a novel that is full of action, humor and horror. The narration by Mr. Wyman is superb and I hope he continues as narrator as the Monster Hunter series continues. Highly recommended.
A refreshing new twist on vampires, elve's, and other mythical beings blended blended skillfully with with modern battle, mercenary companies, and secretive government agencies with loads of action, quirky characters and a decent storyline that kept me listening.....i purchase the second book in the series before this one ended.
We all look for something different in a book or series, i have a feeling this one will be popular with many!!
The writing leaves quite a bit to be desired in my opinion. It's told from the main characters point of view and is full of redundant comments and uninteresting observations. I like the plot so I struggled to rate this so low but it was like pulling teeth to get myself to finish it due to the writing.
I wasn't big on any of them.
Yes, and I have a few times. The M.H.I. series is one of my primary 'filler' series between new titles. M.H.I. is a fun series and still enjoyable after a few listens. I especially like re-listening to it with new people around to try and get them hooked on it.
As with the first book in the series, M.H.I. Vendetta is a fast paced urban fantasy full of action, humor, a bit of drama, and even a bit of romance. But, my personal favorite thing about it has to be Mr. Correia's take on what could be considered traditional fantasy creatures in a rather hilarious fashion.
I really enjoy Mr. Wyman's portrayal of certain characters. Without spoilers, I especially found his portrayal of a certain spy hired later in the book and M.H.I's newest I.T. hire far funnier than I would have pictured otherwise.
As with the first book, I did want to listen to it in one sitting. But, I had to sleep.
M.H.I. Vendetta is another great read from Larry Correia. If you enjoyed the first installment, you will definitely enjoy this sequel.
1*=I didn't like it..... 2*=It was OK...... 3*=It was good but I will never read it again.......... 4*=Maybe I will read it again in the future.............. 5*=I will definitely read it again(maybe more than once)
The message was sent across space and time:
To all minions of the Overlord. Find and utterly destroy
the human Hunter known as Owen Zastava Pitt.
Many questions are answered: How ? Why?
How julie's mother was turned?
How julie's father learned the way to open the portal?
Why agent Franks so tough?
What Agent Myers has against MHI?
How Owen's father knows about supernatural?
All of this questions will be answered and many more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Probaly, but, then I might just ask,
1-Can you eat a really good bag of popcorn, with too much salt on it ?
2-Can you cry for the hero and then hope he dies a horrible death in the same sentence ?
3-Can you believe in monsters and then believe, it gives the average human, the right to lash out violently, at anyone, at anytime, about anything ?
If, your anwser to these questions is yes. Then pamper yourself, cause, you've come home.
If, your anwser to these questions, are no. Then applaud yourself for being much smarter than the rest of us; as well as probaly a working heart.
Righteous thinking or not, if'n we ever treated loved ones or anyone, like these folks working at MHI, then I think the monsters inside all of us, would surely win in the end anyways.
Still, I was never was that bright.......
The English monster man, Hood. His reasoning though, scewed. Seem to have, only the desire to help out mankind. Blantant murder, by his human counterparts, not so much. Do you always need a good excuse to kill indiscrimately ?
Excellent, for a man, with the task, to picking a fight with anyone at anytime about anything, and he was a complete righteous angered ars'e about all of it, good job (I think?)
Humans without heart, and Monsters too!
All set aside. If'n you've got the the EL-Macho bug in you, you'll probaly like. If'n not avoid.
I couldn't wait to get into this book after I finished listening to Monster Hunters International. Larry truly has brought this new world alive with his great imagination. The characters were great and I loved the twists of your conventional fantasy figures. Listening to Oliver was incredible, he really brought the characters alive. His ability to give each their own distinctive voice brought everything alive. Way to go Larry and Oliver.
This is hard to say as there are some many that I really liked from Skippy to G-Gnome and all the hunters in between. I would have to say G-Gnome though he wasn't a hugh part he certainly made me laugh.
His great portrayal of each character. His voice talent gave each their own personality.
If it wasn't for the pesky need to sleep and work I would have easily listened to this is one sitting.
I loved all the action and characters of both books in the series, I listened everyday as I drove to and from work as the action got more intense I found myself driving faster! I will most likely be listening to both again! I cannot wait for the next book in this series. I also really enjoyed the narrator he's great.
