Usually when i go for best seller, I get overwhelmed with the level of story telling.
Tina Fey is nice, and narrating her book is improving it, but far from BIG book.
Listened to it on a car trip and loved every minute. I tend to fall asleep when driving long distances but not a problem listening to this book.
I REALLY enjoyed this book. I like Tina Fey anyway, but in this book she has shown a side of herself that is unlike the stereotypical notion of irreverent comic/unserious about life. She recounts her early years, struggling with her self-identity. She tells stories about her "other" jobs she held while doing improv at night. She discusses her TV shows: SNL and 30 Rock. But where Tina shines is discussing her father, her challenges being a woman in the comedy biz, and her juggling her career and motherhood. Tina is genuine, and it really comes through. I listened to this on audio, which I HIGHLY recommend. Tina reads her own book, so you get her inflections and impressions; saracsm and sweetness. She made me laugh out loud many times. 4.5 stars.
Tina Fey's narration was great! She is so funny!!! I had to control myself so I didn't laugh out loud at work! I learned a lot about the comedy industry as well as the life lessons and insights she drew from her personal and leadership experiences. She is so unassuming and humble. She is openly frustrated about the challenges women continue to face in many sectors, which may disengage some male listeners though. Overall, it was a great first listen!
I enjoyed this book so much I've started it over right away and am actually hearing things I missed which is like finding "that extra french fry at the bottom of the bag!". I woke myself up laughing (really hard!) the other night. That was worth the price of the book right there!
Thanks TIna Fey!
I’m not a hardcore Saturday Night Live fan, but I have caught a few episodes over the years. I loved Baby Mama and Date Night. Anytime Tina Fey has appeared, she’s made me laugh. She’s honestly funny and doesn’t prance around with fake boobs, hair or facial features. Hey, she kind of looks like you and me.
Fey’s audiobook tells the tale of her life and dishes on behind the scenes stories, inside jokes and blunders. I feel like I know her now and that I learned so much about her and her personality. I had no idea Fey was married, or that she had a daughter. (On a side note, she just announced that her and her husband are expecting their second child.)
Fey also gives us full details about portraying Sarah Palin on SNL, how she didn’t care for the idea in the beginning, and then eventually meeting Palin. And the scoop on 30 Rock? She’s got all the deets. I’ve never seen 30 Rock and now I feel like I should. She makes it sound awesome.
Take a listen, Fey does an awesome job of narrating and only added to the story by doing impersonations of Alec Baldwin and Tracy Morgan. She definitely had me laughing out loud. Peeing in cups (not her of course!), replies to web postings and more.
And the end came all too soon for this happy listener. Treat yourself - we all deserve something this delicious.
I stumbled upon this book the first time I ever checked for audio books on my kindle. I knew who tina fey was from SNL, and so I thought I would give it a try (especially since it was rated the #1 book on my kindle audible page). It was hilarious! My boyfriend would give me funny looks from his computer because I would be snorting with laughter! I learned a lot about Tina Fey from this book and she is now one of my favorite female comedians! I actually was sad when her book ended, and I am definitly hoping for another one!
