I liked how she performed for the audio audience. Punchlines were witty and smart.
I loved the fact that SHE herself read the book.
Dishing about the industry.
When she talks about her sitcom 30Rock
A must-read when you're stuck in traffic...
Tina Fey has a smart-alack sense of humor I love. The book starts out a little slow, but by the end I was howling. Her intonations and timing of her jokes are perfect. Love it!
Tina Fey had me giggling throughout the whole book. It was even better because she was the reader! I was so sad when it ended. It could be that I am a woman, about the same age, so her experiences really struck home. However, I plan on recommending it to my daughter and her friends (20 somethings).
I, for some reason, thought it was going to be some type of sketch driven memoir; and while there are definite episodes, Tina is subtly training the listener. She's giving tips on respecting yourself and allowing yourself to experience the experiences of yourself through her words. Its lovely.
Don Fey, he sounds like a boss.
"Nope, you don't get to call me that... My parents weren't alcoholics." (paraphrase)
Thank you, this made traffic fly by!
YES! Absolutely! I think Tina Fey's performance and expression in this book is what makes it great. It adds an extra element of humor that I don't think could come have across in a reading of the book. I felt like she was speaking directly to me instead of just reading her story. Her voice and dynamic is what made it so believable and funny. Also, there are some elements/sentences that sounded like they were added/tweaked just for this audiobook. A perfect translation from book to audiobook. I literally was laughing out loud every time I listened in the car.
Obviously, the narrator! A lot of narrators in audiobooks tend to irritate me (particularly for fiction, which I realize this is not a fiction book). They are usually boring, bland and have cheesy voices that are not believable; the fact that Tina Fey is telling her own story really makes is special and actually adds to the book. I loved that she was telling her own story in her own voice. I connected with the narrator very much.
The entire book was great.
Again, the entire book had me laughing.
This book is a must listen. The narration was superb, and I give it a two thumbs up for making this sound more like a show/performance than a reading of a book.
This the perfect book to listen to as opposed to reading. Tina Fey is extremely entertaining.
