I LOVE when authors read their own books! Tina Fey is a true actor and it comes out in every word of her book. Her words are incredibly full of life and inflection and innuendo and overall I found Bossypants easy to follow, and hard to put down!
Responding to fan mail she found on completely random message boards on the net. Man, i wish I could take criticism with that kind of grace.
She has talent and a great sense of humor. Why does she have to be so crude and use foul language? I saw the extremely high ratings and bought it, then began listening to it with others around and nearly broke my leg trying to get to my computer to turn it off when the crude language began. Is it just so part of everyone's life that it's not a big deal anymore? Sorry, it's not my thing and I wish it would have contained a warning saying, "Explicit language".
It wasnt the story, it was the build up from other reviewers that left me disappointed. It was kinda funny, but I didnt almost wreck my car over it.
I am a huge Tina Fey fan. But I wanted to hear more about her life not about babys and mom stuff. The parts about her being a mom and her family were great! But there was a lot of irrelevant topics that I could tell was just "book filler". The book was funny! But I had more fun reading Sarah Silvermans "the Bedwetter" and Rachel Dratchs "Girl walks into a bar" books. Those were great! No matter what though I still love Tina Fey too!
My perception of Tina Fey, before I read this book, was that she would be more sarcastic and that the book would be filled with one liners. Instead, I was treated to a little bit of insight into her personality as well as some of her challenges in life. Good listen!
Yes, it was so funny and inspiring
When she was talking about having another child as an older mom.
you get to know her better
When she was thinking about having more children in her 40's.
This book was so good. I wish I had listened to it when it first came out.
I would definitely recommend this audiobook.
the backstories of 30 Rock
It doesn't always work when the author is also the narrator of the audiobook, but in this case it made it ten times better!
I was laughing out loud in quite a few parts, which was awkward since I'm usually walking by myself or on the subway when listening to the audiobook.
I am listening to it for the second time now, and it's still funny:)
Tina Fey's voice in entertaining. If we could get her to narrate all the books I've been procrastinating to read on my wish list I'd be done with them in 2 days.
YES! I would have listened straight through except I have a rule to only listen in the car to help control my road rage. So, instead I listened on 2 separate occasions in the car and a good 1.5 hours at work.
Tina Fey's observations of the world and how women fit into it is pretty witty and dead on. I want to say Tina Fey is smart because she is but I hope that doesn't deter people from reading. She doesn't discuss math so rest assured this book is both smart and funny. I hope every woman over 25 reads this book. I know you'll enjoy it.
I love audible to listen to my books while commuting in the SF Bay Area. It makes the time go by so fast and keeps me engrossed.
Tina is a great writer and great reader of her story. She adds so much to the story.
