I have not listened to many audiobooks. All I can say is I laughed so hard while hiking and at the gym listening to this audio.
My teenage daughter is now listening to Bossypants and it's great. We discuss topics like how Tina was once too skinny and how she once was overweight. Tina Fey recommends always wearing a bra. Tina Fey's life lessons that she learned while doing improve, my daughter soaked up her words.
We need to embrace more strong, smart, confident, FUNNY(!!!) women like Fey.
I already have. I have always liked Tina Fey, mostly because all of the cool kids do, but now I like her with good reason. She's genuinely funny.
I can't really. It's the kind of book that I would like to write myself. It's just an honest account of life without any of the pretense that all of your Facebook friends like to throw at you. In fact, I would love to have Tina Fey as a Facebook friend. She and I would make the same comments behind the backs of all of my other friends, "Stop posting pictures of your kid in a t-shirt that has his age in months, already! He's 11. I'm embarrassed for you!"
It's her material about her real life. No one else could possibly perform it but her.
Pretend you're a love addicted astronaut and strap on your Depends so that when you pee in your pants it will be less embarrassing.
I was expecting the familiar humor, but alas.
Don't think so.
She was not the real problem.
Couldn't listen to the whole thing. Can't tell.
I am sorry I didn't like it at all. And I am a fan of hers.
One of the aspects i enjoyed the most about listening to Bossypants is how personal it felt. Why? I'll tell you, it's one thing when a voice actor or an actor/actress in general reads a book to you. You enjoy the role play, different voices, you listen to the story and try to let yourself become surrounded in the story telling. Yet, with Tina it was different. I knew that this was not a fictitious story, and for some that could easily turn them away, but for me, it was a chance to get to know to actress I'd come to admire. When Tina started talking, I felt like 'WE' were talking. It was like having a one on one, catching up with a distant cousin. I enjoy listening to my books on the commute to campus, grocery shopping, even picking up the kids and often found myself responding to something she said as if she were right there lol! To listen to her voice as she reminiscences is almost like being able to see the expression on her face as she tells you her story.
She is a woman that I feel that most females can relate to. You get to know the true struggle she endured and how she delt with everyday stressors from everyday life, all the while making you laugh so hard in your car people suspect that your frion has been switched with laughing gas.
Sarah Palin; she actually managed to make Sarah Palin sound somewhat intelligent.
I like to space my books out, but I can easily listen to this book in one sitting and multiple times.
If you need a pick me up, life guidance,a good laugh or just want to know a little more about the woman who puts a smile on so many peoples faces, you WANT to listen to this!
Sure! But not all my friends. You have to appreciate sarcasm, have watched SNL and/or 30 Rock, and want to relate honestly about such topics as motherhood and your period.
Excellent as usual.
The mother's prayer I played for my children. It summarized everything in a humorous but yet so touching way.
The middle of the book dragged a bit only because you have to be familiar with comedians, TV and writers. All and all though, it was entertaining, interesting to discover Fey's ambition, and even had some pearls of wisdom.
The top 3
Her straight forward humor and finding humor in all things of life.
I loved her portrayal of her dad.
I laughed and laughed. I listened to it every day on my 1 1/2 hour commute to the office and it kept me smiling the whole way.
just fueling my book addiction
This book is hilarious, insightful, and so enjoyable. I have to admit I have re listened to this a number of times.
I laughed a lot, out loud, alone in my car....
Engaging, Entertaining & Real
My daughters and I enjoyed how Tina told her story! She is down to earth and entertaining
My daughters 13 & 16, and I enjoyed the audio book while driving home on vacation. I heard wails of protest when I had to pause it for pit stops !
I've always found Tina Fey peripherally funny, the same way I do most recent SNL alums. However, Bossypants clearly divides comedians like Fey from those who rely more on comedic timing.
What's most interesting about Bossypants is that I felt it revealed Fey as an observational comedian - and someone you believe you could be friends with IF ONLY SHE MET ME IN REAL LIFE.
I love that Fey is clearly so intelligent and funny, but it's tempered by a believable humbleness and awkwardness.
I don't laugh out loud. Ever. My co-workers had to ask me what I was listening to on more than one occasion.

Highly entertaining and satisfying due to being read by the author.
Tina as she is intelligent as well as comical
The Paul Lynde impersonation
When her father sent her in to get the carpet cleaning stuff and she got it wrong
I wish there were more anecdotes from her childhood, but it was well worth the listen and I will listen to it again and again.
