Tina Fey's book is funny and poignant. Having her narrate it really adds life to what is already a pretty engaging book. Really enjoyed this and would certainly recommend it.
I'm a writer and a yoga teacher with a Masters in English Literature.
I had the book on my ipod, so I couldn't see what sounded like hilarious PDFs, but Tina Fey is an awesome performer, and I can't imagine not hearing it in her voice.
Tina Fey is an incredibly smart, self-aware feminist in show business. She made me laugh, but also think very seriously about issues like body image, motherhood, and being a woman in any career where people automatically think you won't succeed. I think about this book all the time.
she's TINA FEY! Also audio clips from SNL that were hilarious.
Many, but especially the moment when Amy Poehler makes a dirty joke and, when Jimmy Fallon complains about how it's "not cute," Amy's "eyes went black, she turned to Jimmy and said, 'I don't care if you LIKE it.'" Tina's response in her own head was, "My friend is here! My friend is here!" (paraphrasing from what I remember)
While I never read the print version, hearing the text in Tina's voice was awesome. I think I wouldn't enjoy the print version as much.
Anything by David Sedaris.
Though I like Tina Fey's reading, she sometimes mumbles, speaks to fast, or her voice drops off at the end of a sentence. Although I loved the book, it was not great for listening in situations with competing noise, such as the car or even under earphones unless in a quite place.
This was my first, going to be hard to compare after that
HUMOR and Real life
I'm very glad I didn't buy the print version, because the audio is EXCELLENT. Tina Fey delivers an amazingly funny performance.
I really enjoyed a lot of the stories from behind the scenes at SNL.
She uses a lot of voices and characters for the people and events that she describes. It really adds a lot to the story.
Probably one of the most creative audiobooks I have had the pleasure of listening to!
I loved the personal, friendly connection this audio book offers . I felt as if Tina Fey were right across the table telling me her story.
This book reminds me of Let's Pretend This Never Happened and the novel, A Walk In the Woods. All three are unabashedly presented. All are funny and a delightful look at how silly we all are in our quest to improve our lives!
Loved hearing how SNL actors and writers work together. Scenes that come to mind are Tina's photo shoot, her retorts to ridiculous emails, and her recollection of how her Palin character came to be such a favorite. Tina also has a fun take on birth, babies and breastfeeding... I laughed so hard.
I did get a few looks from people when ever I had those snorting "bursts" of laughter while riding my bike around town.
The audio book needs to be longer! I hated that it was over so soon. Write more Tina Fey!
Yes, I like listening to Tina tell the story.
The beginning is hysterical.
Her personality is great!
Her story about her father.
