HATE spoilers! Enjoy HOT, sexy books. No vampires, paranormal, teens 4 me. Running out this type Audible-so on2 lighter romance/mystery :-(
Yes, am doing so as I write this!
I love Izzy... he is strong and tries to do the right thing.
No one scene... the book starts out really great and as it nears its end it gets better & better.
The description is a bit misleading. This is a great thriller but it has a lot of ROMANCE NOT 100% thriller like many other Special Ops style book.
What a ride!!! The narration of this book was absolutely incredible and it made for a fast paced, can't put it down ride. The two different narrators really added to the book. I think I enjoyed listening to this book way better than I would have enjoyed reading it.
Fast paced with great narration
Fast pace, never wanting to put it down. The voice of Patrick Lawlor and Renee Raudman was so smooth, flawless.
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.
YES!! I loved this story. We got a two fer here. Izzy's story and Danny's. We have an abusive adopted parent, and an emotionally detached mother, who is interested only in milking money from her oldest son. Danny's misunderstood sister, Eden has done what she needed to, to survive on her own, now she is worried about their younger brother, who is a diabetic, and gay. Ben's lifestyle choice does not sit well with his abusive step father, who intends to give him to a religious organization that promises to change his sexual orientation. The story only gets better, because Izzy finds Eden pole dancing in a club in Las Vegas. The heat is on!!
Now to tackle those who are incensed because of what they perceive as Suze's political/religious views and biasis, this is a story folks, and what she has written about goes on every single day in America. We have sexual slavery happening to young women both in this country and out of this country. We have people believing if you can just find god (notice I used a small g because the big guy said to love everyone) you can be saved from homosexuality and they can help you not be gay. (rollseyes) I am not liberal nor conservative, I am a GDI ( god damn independant)...people take these stories for what they are.....pure entertainment. Stop reading for what is not there. Enjoy!
PIcking up one of the troubleshooters books was by accident, but once I found out there was a series, I was estatic. I even read most of them out of order. Love, Love, Love. all of them.
I like the breakdown more on this book more then the past two I listened to.
I love all her romance about the SEALS. They do a great job in real life, so why not in the romance department. ?!
I started this on while I was working at home and stayed up until 2am to listen to how it finished. I enjoyed the mixed of action and romance in this one. Way to go Suzanne!
The story lacked a natural ebb and flow. The feeling normally reserved for the climactic ending of a book resided from beginning to end. It felt exhausting and contrived. Also, the narrators, both female and male, were quite distracting with their hokey characterizations. Their falsettos and horribly inaccurate accents were quite annoying. The romance aspect was a bit of an after thought. Miscommunication leads to lack of trust that is abruptly and not quite believably resolved in the end. Still, I listened to the whole thing and was moderately entertained.
I had hoped that the story line would be the "star" of this book. The synopsis really grabbed me. I was pretty put off by the multiple sexual situations. I truly don't mind sexual situations when it is integral to the story, but these sexual situations were gratuitous and too many. I found that i wanted to love the characters and follow them, but the sex got in the way, so I didn't even finish the book.
Time spent commuting passes by much easier listening to books. I prefer romance books but I do enjoy other books as well.
Finally, Izzy's story. I've been waiting for this book since Eden first took off for Germany. Izzy is such a great character and SB never lets her readers down. Her books are always an automatic purchase for me. All of her books have captured me and rendered me unable to put them down. This is definitely no exception.
As for preaching (if that's what you want to call it)......Keep it up SB. I'm glad that there are many many christians who are loving, excepting and non-judgmental people. However, there are still just as many that are not. They pretend to be though. My son is gay. I am more than aware of how people you've known all of your life, who profess to be loving christians, can turn and be very ugly. People who, just like a previous reviewer, swore they were loving christians and anti-prejudice, turn into strangers. They accuse my son and all gay people of making some sort of perverted choice. They shake their bibles at them and call them names. I???m often very afraid for my son because I know there are people willing to hurt him in the name of ???God???. So, if SB can keep pounding the message of tolerance and acceptance of others while at the same time entertaining us with a great story??????.good for her.
