I think that when I downloaded this book, someone had said the this was "maybe" Lisa Gardner's best book. "Maybe", my you know what!
It IS her best book! I liked what the readers did with the voices and how they weaved the web. I listen in the car and multiple times I was yelling WOA! or WHAT????
You will love this book.
"Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you," and Lias Gardner ALWAYS makes you paraniod -- another great installment to the series. Once you start, you can't stop until you get to the end, but you're worried about what's waiting at the end-- as usual. Can't wait for the next one.
Addicted to Audible!
I have never listened to a book by Ms. Gardner, and I will have to start listening to more. This was a quick moving, interesting mystery- great plot twists and turns. Not at all boring....kept me looking forward to my time on the treadmill!
Just how far would you go for your child? How strong is the loving bond between a mother and her child? Lisa Gardner deftly explores these questions within a complicated murder investigation. This is the fifth book in the Detective DD Warren Boston police-woman mysteries. This time DD is partnered up with her old lover, Bobby Dodge, in the Massachusetts State Police. They are investigating the apparent murder of the abusive husband of MA Stare police-woman, Tessa Leoni. Tessa has been brutally beaten, her husband, Brian, lies dead on the kitchen floor, BUT where is Tessa's 6 year old daughter, Sophie.
Lisa Gardner superbly intertwines the two voices of DD and Tessa to involve the reader in the thoughts of two different police-women: DD, who is just finding out that she is pregnant, and Tessa, the mother of the missing girl. The love between mother and child is uppermost in this book, even though DD is not at all sure she's meant to ever be a parent. But DD can't decide if Tessa loves her child or murdered the girl and is covering up her crime.
Amongst the thoughts and actions of these two women, we learn more and more about Tessa, her marriage, and the circumstances of Brian's life and death. The more we learn, the deeper and faster the thrills come as these two women decide just how much they are willing to do for the love of a child.
The mystery is fast passed and compelling, but the characters' thoughts and feelings as the action progresses, really makes this an excellent book.
Retired CFO, Army wife, Mom of five, Grandma of six, two sons who served in combat, love to read books that reflect my values and faith, love mysteries, historical, military stories, and books that don't waste my time . . . if it doesn't have an ending that was worth the wait, I'm not a happy camper.
Wow, couldn't stop listening to this one . . . missing child . . . who can you believe?
Definitely purchase this book! The story had so many great twists and turns I couldn't turn it off ( I could have listened to it all the way through in one sitting if I had the time). Narration is wonderful, I loved the different narrators for the two women characters. I for sure recommend this book for those who love a great thriller!
Reader And Listener
This was my first Lisa Garndner; I'm not quite finished with it and have already downloaded another. Not sure how I missed her up to now but I plan to work my way through her entire list. This story is extremly well done and well read. There are a few holes in the plot but they are minor, the characters ring true and the plot was intriguing and suspenseful.
I have listened to many, many Audible books and written several reviews. In my opinion, every single thing in this book is spot on. Lisa Gardner is an absolutely genius thriller writer and this latest installment shows that her skills keep improving as her career progresses. The narration is perfect. Tessa's narrator has a delicate, feminine voice that fits perfectly with the image of a petite blonde officer and provides a chilling contrast to the horrible things Tessa does as the book moves along. D.D.'s narrator has a deeper, more commanding voice that fits precisely with my image of D.D. Warren. Throughout the book there were several times when D.D.'s narrator would start reading and I would feel relief at the thought of D.D. leading and organizing the investigation, certain that she would eventually get to the heart of the matter. The contrast between the two narrators puts this audiobook in the very rare category of one where the narration actually improves an already excellent literary work. Fantastic job to all involved, thank you for your hard work! No worries about wasting a credit here - promise!
As a long time fan of Ms. Gardner, I was not suprised by what a great book "Love You More" turned out to be.. Good, narration, interesting characters, lots of twists and turns in the story, no sloppy, unbelievable love scenes and absolutely no personal political views woven into the plot. I enjoyed the whole book.
wow! what a story...I couldn't put this down. Lisa Gardner will now be on my list of favorite authors. I already liked Kirsten Potter's narrating skills from Tami Hoag's novels, and Katie MacNichol did a great job also. I had read another reviewer that was disappointed in the narration but I did not find that to be true for me. The plot is twisting and captivating. I never knew who did it until the very end! wonderful job ladies! very entertaining!
