This story wasn’t as funny as Half-Moon Hollow, but I enjoyed the story. Molly Harper knows how to entertain, without making the story so complex. It’s a light read with some chuckles along the way.
This story featured Maureen “Mo” Duvall-Weinsten moving to Alaska after her fiancé dumped her for no real reason. She wanted a freash start and just picked Alaska to get away from her ex and her hippy parents. She begins working at a saloon and since she is in small town named Grundy, all the local bachelors come sniffing around. Cooper Graham is a local who can’t seem to stop coming around Mo, but he keeps saying things to convey his dislike of “non-locals”. Cooper was like the kindergarten boy who likes a girl, so he pulls her hair, pushes her down and just picks on her. Mo hates that she is attracted to the one man who is mean to her, but then keeps kissing her. To top off, she finds out he is werewolf. What’s a girl to do?
I tried reading this book twice, but couldn’t get into. So I tried the audio and narrator Amanda Ronconi brought it to life. She has great voices and she just entertained me the entire book. I think I will keep going with this series, but on audio.
I simply enjoyed this story. It was very lighthearted and funny. I adored the southern colloquialisms. They had me laughing out loud. My laughter only increased when learning about Mo’s parents (Boy, Can I relate!). This is not to take the place of the story, which was very good and kept me listening. This was a purchase I certainly will not regret.
Molly Harper's stories are fun and her characters are witty; however, something seems to be lacking. The consistency of the world she has created and writes about leaves something to be desired. While her vampire and werewolf stories overlap, there are aspects of her story telling that leave me wondering if I entering the world she has already created when I pick up a new book. Also, I began listening to Molly Harper because I enjoy Amanda Ronconi's performance; however, I find myself wondering if I find the characters to be oh so similar due to performance or writing style. I believe this book, and the rest of Molly Harper's, are worth experiencing, but if you are a stickler for the details, like myself, you may pull out some of your hair in the process.
No, I have read other books of this type that I enjoyed.
No, her voice was annoying.
What a waste of good money!
Reader. Painter. Newspaper columnist. Nurse. Humane Society. Lake life. Walker. Happily remarried - was a widow.
In top group of light fiction. It's about werewolves, yes, but that was not the dominant theme. It is a light and entertaining romance with a bit of adventure.
Cooper. Got over himself to fall in love.
Good tone of voice. Fast pace.
Wanted to hear the end and wanted to continue listening. Help my attention.
Actually quite funny in places. Light and charming. Well written as a fast paced book for a fun read. Narrator was good. I was not expecting much but ordered due to reviews that it was funny and I was looking for something light. It had a bit more depth to it but it was so closely woven into the content that I didn't realize how well done it was at first. The genre of urban mythology has been improved by this book. I will most definitely order the sequel. It was just plain FUN and I have to repeat myself, better than expected, funny and had a strong but quirky charm. Good for the car or when doing a task around the house.
Take the sex scenes out and this book would fit perfectly with the young adult audience. Nothing wrong with YA genre - some great titles in that genre - but in this book, I found the attempt at light hearted humor and raunchy sex too incongruous. Also, no tension between the main characters. As with most novels that bore me, I ended up not caring about the characters. So, I turned it off. Hope this helps...
Say something about yourself!

A GREAT FUN READ, EVEN IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN WEREWOLVES. I AM A FAN OF MOLLY HARPER'S WORK, YOU CAN COUNT ON A LAUGH.
Paranormal-urban fantasy book lover!
Yes yes and heck yes.
It is funny and entertaining. Ronconi does a perfect job of narrating the different characters!
Attitude, spice, spunk. The perfect narrator for this book.
I was laughing through the entire book.
Once I listened to Harper's "Nice Girls" series, I immediately bought all of Harper's books from audible and am very glad I did. I have listened to all the books several times now.
Cute story between Mo and her Werewolf. Mystery building in the background but isnt developed very well.
Fun listen but not very intriguing.
