I'm always a little dubious when these authors stray from what I think is their strongest character. But I think they nailed it this time. The story is fast-paced and intelligent. The narrator is new to me, but he did a great job with quick dialogue. I am excited for the next installment.
Kind of a typical story line, but well done and entertaining. This team knows how to write a series that will suck you in.
I always know I will get a great story when Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child are the writers. I was on a long drive to Santa Fe, NM with my husband. and when we arrived, we wanted to stay in the car and listen to the end of the book. It was a great read!!!
I don't believe this book contains a single original idea and their attitudes towards women would be more in line with a book written by Clive Cussler in the 1970's. I'm dumber for having read this.
I've read every book by these two authors, and this is my only real disappointment. I had pre-ordered the book and was excited to get it. If they do another in this series I won't buy it until I am overwhelmed by reviews of others that have read it. They are selling this book based on their past reputation. Many more like this and the reputation will be diminished.
Usually, I like what Lincoln and Child are doing. Even if they are uneven. Still life with Crows is very good and Cemetery Dance is so so. But this one is very bad... As if they were doing that book for money only... The storyline is stupid and full of holes, the main character is completely dull and the bad guy is without interest. At the end of the book, I was hoping that the hero would die so Lincoln and Child stop the urge of doing another book with that hero...
