Hello, my name is Teresa and I'm an addict.
I have had this in my library for over a year, only because I try not to have too many series going at one time. But I'm super glad I got the book and even happier that I read it. It was a fast paced book with characters you like. The world is vivid and unusual. I will defiantly be getting the series as long as they have the same feel to it as this book. I have already purchased the next book. It does have some frustrating sex in the story, I was starting to feel bad for our heroine. I like how nobody's side is the right side and the world is grey, not black and white when it comes to good and evil. I'm always up for a bad boy turned good. The narrator was good, but I was so engrossed in the story I hardly notice her. In my opinion, that makes a good narrator. I hope the rest have decent narrators because I notice they are all read by different narrators. Recommend this for all of the Lord of the Underworld fans out there by Gena Showalter.
My name is Mona and I am an infrequent reader. I found books on audio by accident. I am really enjoying it.
This was my first book of this type and I must admit that it was unexpected. It was truly not what I thought. I learned a lot about the worldly dimensions through the characters. They were very passionate about their lives and how they chose to live it. I love how the narrator spoke through Tayla’s fears and her emotional outburst. I love the story of two sworn enemies, through fate, were brought together against all they believed. And the sex isn’t bad either, lol!
The narration was pretty good and very believable. The inflections were right on queue which made for a more believable story. I can’t wait to pick up the next book in the series. I want to read more about T and E as well as the other demons in the book. The y seem to have an interesting story to tell.
i liked it. she builds the story and universe very well. it has some great love scenes. it was good enough that i bought the next as well:)
The book is fictiously entertaining
The moment that stands out is when Tayla and E together bring her to heights of pleasure she never knew
When Tayla agrees to bond with E
Danger from hell on Earth
First book in the series that I have read. I will read more.
I am in love with pararomance and am always trying to find new series with a great story and sizzling hot spots!
I sure would, great story and steamy of course!
Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld books, just a little :)
I have to say she wasn't my favorite narrator, and am a little sad that the rest of the series is done by a narrator I really can't stand.
I did not.
Original "read" was Feb 2012
Tayla Mancuso has had a hard life. Desperately trying to flee her past as the daughter of a single mother who battled substance abuse, she finds camaraderie and a sense of family in a demon-slaying group called the Aegis. After a demon fight gone awry, she finds herself in a demon hospital and under the care of a gorgeous doctor. A doctor who stirs her every desire and makes her crave a release she has been denied for years. The only problem is that he is a demon and killing demons, no matter who or what, is her job.
Eidolon is a demon and the head doctor of Underworld General. Born as a seminus demon, his humanoid form allowed him to go to medical school while his rare gift as a seminus demon allows him to heal the majority of injuries. He is known as a by-the-book type of guy, always keeping his brothers in line, but when he sets eyes on the lovely, albeit injured and bloody, Tayla, his loins begin to ache and he find himself compelled to break every rule he's every lived by.
The tension hits you right in the gut and I loved every minute of Tayla and Eidolon's story. Both characters are strong and stubborn, yet extremely vulnerable. There is a lot of sexual tension in this story and Tayla's smart-aleck remarks are priceless especially when it's towards Eidolon's justice and fairness attitude.
This book, this whole series, in fact, is phenomenal. It is so much more than just a paranormal romance. The world Ione creates is fantastical. The array of fascinating characters keep you jonesing for the next story; the entertaining dialogues will have you laughing out loud; and the smoking-hot romances will leave you pausing to catch your breath. This is a must-read for PNR fans who like tough, sexy chicks and über hot alpha males with a backdrop of demons, vampire, werewolves, angels, fallen-angels, well, you get the picture.
Narrator: Cassandra Campbell
Speaking as someone who has listened to all the books in the series that have been released as of June 2013, this is probably the better of all the female performance in this series. I really dislike the fact that the publishers didn't use the same narrator for the entire series and what makes it disappointing is that some of the books are narrated terribly.
Campbell does a great job with this installment. Her voice is even in that there isn't a huge difference in sound forcing you to keep your fingers on the volume and she does a good distinction with the many characters in the novel.
I loved all the characters in the series.
Yes. Couldn't put it down.
Graphic Designer. Culinary Enthusiast. Mostly User Friendly.
It's hard for me to rate this book. I think it does a good job of taking a story that's very much about the sex and surrounding it with a decent storyline. If you're looking for lots of steam in your supernatural, this book is for you! However, if you're less interested in the sex and more interested in the story (and things like character development), you might want to skip this one. It's not bad -- I'd say it holds it's own in the supernatural genre, even, maybe at a B level -- but it's pretty cheesy in that super-sexy-romance sort of way and the characters are pretty shallow (but they're, you know, awfully busy).
Reading is a must-have ESCAPE...
The story centers on Tayla & Eidolon who are drawn to each other, yet live on opposite, even competing, sides of the world. She is a psychologically wounded demon-slayer zealot, & Eidolon, an educated physician demon. The first half of the story describes a series of unique, unexpected, encounters between the pair. Over the course of the entire story, they deal with much of their internal conflict over loyalties and ingrained prejudices.
The overall story and its characters are fairly well explained and developed. Campbell does a great job narrating. Never gets boring.
The intense fantasy world that the author builds up.
Eidolon. He was a great hero who draws you in from the start.
No, this was my first one.

Great story, complex characters and a fantastic underworld setting.
