I am in love with pararomance and am always trying to find new series with a great story and sizzling hot spots!
I sure would, great story and steamy of course!
Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld books, just a little :)
I have to say she wasn't my favorite narrator, and am a little sad that the rest of the series is done by a narrator I really can't stand.
I did not.
Hello, my name is Teresa and I'm an addict.
I have had this in my library for over a year, only because I try not to have too many series going at one time. But I'm super glad I got the book and even happier that I read it. It was a fast paced book with characters you like. The world is vivid and unusual. I will defiantly be getting the series as long as they have the same feel to it as this book. I have already purchased the next book. It does have some frustrating sex in the story, I was starting to feel bad for our heroine. I like how nobody's side is the right side and the world is grey, not black and white when it comes to good and evil. I'm always up for a bad boy turned good. The narrator was good, but I was so engrossed in the story I hardly notice her. In my opinion, that makes a good narrator. I hope the rest have decent narrators because I notice they are all read by different narrators. Recommend this for all of the Lord of the Underworld fans out there by Gena Showalter.

It's hard for me to rate this book. I think it does a good job of taking a story that's very much about the sex and surrounding it with a decent storyline. If you're looking for lots of steam in your supernatural, this book is for you! However, if you're less interested in the sex and more interested in the story (and things like character development), you might want to skip this one. It's not bad -- I'd say it holds it's own in the supernatural genre, even, maybe at a B level -- but it's pretty cheesy in that super-sexy-romance sort of way and the characters are pretty shallow (but they're, you know, awfully busy).
My name is Mona and I am an infrequent reader. I found books on audio by accident. I am really enjoying it.
This was my first book of this type and I must admit that it was unexpected. It was truly not what I thought. I learned a lot about the worldly dimensions through the characters. They were very passionate about their lives and how they chose to live it. I love how the narrator spoke through Tayla’s fears and her emotional outburst. I love the story of two sworn enemies, through fate, were brought together against all they believed. And the sex isn’t bad either, lol!
The narration was pretty good and very believable. The inflections were right on queue which made for a more believable story. I can’t wait to pick up the next book in the series. I want to read more about T and E as well as the other demons in the book. The y seem to have an interesting story to tell.
i liked it. she builds the story and universe very well. it has some great love scenes. it was good enough that i bought the next as well:)
I've always been a avid reader so now I'm a avid listener. I prefer the paranormal genre but I do like to switch things up. It's boring if you don't have variety. Of course I do love the romance and the hotter the better. Also, you can't beat a good thriller filled with suspense and a ending you can't even guess at until the very end.
It is one of the better book's I have listened to lately. I enjoyed the storyline very much.
In my opinion, this book is similar to Kresley Cole's books.
I think she did a wonderful job on how she sounded on her male voice. Some narrators cannot pull off male/female voices that are pleasing to listen to.
No extreme reactions, but I did enjoy it.
It was worth the credit if you like authors like Kresley Cole, JR Ward, Chrisitne Feehan, ect.....
Wow, I could not put this book down and I cannot wait to start the next in this series. Excellent read and performance. If you love this genre as I do, you will love this book!
I love books and love to get lost in the fantasy. I'm always looking for a new good story to bury myself in. :)
This was a very good story. I liked Tayla and Eidolon and enjoyed their story and this new world. This is the first story I've read by this author and I liked it well enough that I plan to read more of her work.
Tayla is a demon hunter that works for a group called Aegis. Tayla never knew her father and her mother was a junkie when she was born and had trouble staying sober. Tayla loved her mother regardless and was horrified when her mother was raped and killed by a demon when she was only 16. She ended up in foster care and then out on the streets until Aegis picked her up and gave her a purpose.
Eidolon is a Seminus demon, which is a kind of incubus. He works as a doctor in a demon hospital that's hidden from the human world by spells. Seminus demons go through a change at a certain point and if they get through it alive, it can change them a lot (personality-wise and in other ways). Eidolon's change is coming up and he's doing everything he can to put it off. He thinks that finding a mate will help but no female appeals to him (and mating is until death do they part).
Tayla is out hunting and things go wrong, ending with both her and the demon severely injured. The demon hospital's ambulance ends up picking them both up and taking them both in. This causes a stir because most of the inhabitants of the hospital want to kill Tayla on sight. Thankfully, the hospital has spells in place to prevent violence so no one can take immediate action. Eidolon is serious about his doctoring duties and wont let anyone kill Tayla. He finds that he's extremely attracted to her though and he shouldn't because she's the enemy and would kill him just for being a demon. When Tayla is healed enough to wake up, she's freaked because (since she really knows nothing about demons) she has the idea that all demons are pure evil (and should be slaughtered) just because they're demons. She also feels a strong attraction to Eidolon and since she doesn't normally have much of a libido (and hey...he's a demon!), this bothers her.
Once Tayla is strong enough, Eidolon decides to get her out of the hospital before the other demons decide to take her outside and kill her...or worse, torture her for info on the Aegis. Eidolon hopes he can convince her that all demons aren't bad and maybe help them against the Aegis. There are reasons he thinks this might work (which are reasonable) but I can't tell you because, Spoilers. Tayla and Eidolon have a real "I want you but I also want to kill you" vibe at first but that slowly changes, causing confusion and trouble for them both. There's a lot that goes on but I don't know how to go into it without getting into too much detail...let's just say that there's a lot happening and it's interesting and worth the time. In the end, things are pretty much settled and Eidolon and Tayla get a HEA together.
This was a very enjoyable story. Tayla definitely had some major demon hate going on at first but she had her reasons and she was willing to see the truth, if reluctantly. Eidolon was a good guy, demon or not, and I liked him. The story was very good and kept me engaged through to the end so I'd recommend it. :D
Didn't think that I would enjoy listening to books versus reading but I must admit I am now ADDICTED!!
I love her work I lose myself in her stories and imagine awesome scenarios keep up the great work.
Something about this story just couldn't keep me interested. The narrator was very good but the main female character just rubbed me wrong. I found her to be a traitorous, weak fink! Having physical strength doesn't equal strength of character, and she was the embodiment of a weak selfish woman.
I really tried to continue with the story, hoping it would eventually take a different direction. I only could manage up to chapter 7, then couldn't stomach her selfish betrayal to someone who cared for her.
I'm certain when her betraying ways came to a head, she changed her mind and became the savior.....too little too late for me.
This type of storyline, with righteous ill-informed killers, doesn't boast well with me.
