A gadabout with no room for heavy books, so love the audio ones.
Maybe reading it might have been a better option for me.
Her drawn out and dramatic endings to practically every sentence of Charley's dialogue, once picked up on, are impossible to not focus on. They ruined the story for me.
Sure it had some very erotic episodes worth listening again.
Second Grave, Third Grave etc....
How she can do a mans voice and still be a sexy women.
Can't wait for the next in the series.
My wife (Ruthie) and I together listen to Audible's books every evening. We have been doing this since 2005 and have never missed an evening
Please refund my credit and return my purchase for First Grave on the Right. Thanks
This was a stupid story with terrible stretched out plot that lead nowhere. I don't understand why it costs so much too. Thank god I got it for free. I wouldn't even pay 5$ for it. They could have took this story line to something so much bigger. But instead it's just about a girl who's horny for satans son, there's nothing more to it. Again I do not recommend!! Read Gone Girl instead.
All of the above
The story line & the characters.
Charley & Reyes, because the chemistry between them is just somehow very comical and yet very intense.
This writing reminded me so much of the Stephanie Plum series I thought it was Janet Evanovich writing under a pseudonym – only not funny. Or maybe she’s a Christopher Moore wannabe – but again, not funny. The author is trying way too hard and the humor just sounds fake and forced. Maybe she settles down a little in her subsequent books.
It was good, I'm not sure where it would rank.
Yes, she was funny and grabs your attention.
Charley of course
I liked when she met Angel and I like the ally beating scene.
I liked this book better than I thought I would... Darynda Jones did a great job bringing the characters to life. I like any book that can take me thru varried emotions while reading.. Happiness, Sadness.. even a chuckel or two. I can't wait to read Book #2
Charlie is my favorite character... She is every woman despite being the grip reaper. She has an awesome sence of humor, a little sarcastic at times, but has a heart of gold.
I enjoyed all of them
While this book didnt make me cry it was an emotional roller coaster... I like any book that can make me laugh out loud.
I think the stories in this series are amazing!!! They get your attention from the very start of the book and it keeps your attention all the way to the end. I could not put it away, I would listen to the audio at lunch at work or on a break and then read the ebook at night when I would get home.
To me I would compare it to Jim Butcher's Dresden Files because of the personality of the characters and how action packed the stories are.
I love Lorelei as the voice of Charley. I think she delivers Charley and gives her so much personality and I cannot picture anyone else being able to that the same way.
It has been about two weeks since I picked up First Grave and now I just bought Fourth Grave and I cannot wait to get started on it. Once I start one of her books I am cannot stand to put it away until it is finished.
I have listened to this book and the whole series to date - twice - I barely will watch a movie twice. The writing is fun, original, and so well-paced that the urge to continue even though it's time to walk into the office - is almost overwhelming. Throughout my work day my mind wanders back to Charley, Cookie, Uncle Bob, Reyes, Garrett, and of course, Angel. The people and scenes come alive quickly in my mind's eye with the well-written descriptors. Each person has a very unique personality with plenty of background so that they're solid and real to you. The story line is clever; the fantastic is built into the real world and all the typical folks are so unaware....but you know...you know what's going on! It is even more fun to listen the 2nd time around because even though you know what's going to happen - you miss these characters and it's good to 'see' them again.
I mentioned each of the primary characters in the opening because they are all my favorite. I can't see any of them traveling off without the other - but if I had to choose just one - ah forget it, can't be done.
The narrator makes a book, unless you're going to read it yourself, the narrator is just as, if not important than the author's written word. Ms. King has absolutely the best range of voices so easily recognizable when she speaks; she does not even have to say "Reyes barked," or "Amber murmured." Phenomenal is the best way to describe her work. I am just starting a new series - just because Lorelei King is the narrator!
"This powerful detective will reap your soul."
Thank you to Darynda for making this series so much fun and clever, super, super clever!
