I LOVED listening to Lori Petty narrate the first book... but unfortunately she doesn't read the unabridged versions, which I prefer. C.J. just doesn't do it, like Lori does the Brooklyn accent! I could have really gotten hooked on this series after listening to the first book with Lori Narrating. But if C.J. does all the unabridged, then I'll probably not continue the series. The Abridged versions are way too short and cut too much out.
Makes me laugh when the Grandmother gets involved in sluthing
Stephanie Plum and her adventures in recovery agent, then using her grandmother to help. Too funny how it all ends up.
The NJ accent in the characters are believable.
When the grandmother looks through Stephany Plum's pocket book.
Almost makes me want to try to be a recovery agent for the money.
My first Evanivich series was Fox and O'Hare, which I loved. I thought I would try the Plum series. This book was meh!
This book had me laughing out lloud at work and distrupting the very quiet peace we have around here. I love the humor, it wasn't over done but was right on time so it went perfet with the story and tthe characters. The story was good and the characters were well written. I am not over joyed with the performance unfortunately, there's a lot of audible deep breathes before almost each word or break, the silences at the end of the each chapter makes you think something is wrong with the book or you got cut off somehow, the transitions could be better. I like her voice for Stephanie and some of the other characters but not for grandma and some of the others. These are not deal breakers just my own observations from the other many books I listen to on Audible, this one seems to be choppy and not as polished. I hope they get better with each installment.
My. Favorite books are the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich. The reader of this book, CJ critt, is an amazing reader as well. I really hear the different people's personalities as she reads the book. I highly recommend the series to anybody!
loved it. I started this series with a newer version, which captured my interest.
"I hope you're pleased with yourselves. We could all have been killed - or worse, expelled."
Content, Content, Content - Consistent Janet Evanovich! Witty and funny plus adventure. Stephanie is a "pitt-bull..." according to Joe Morelli, "when it comes to cases", and she doggedly (see what I did there?) pursues her cases while fending of Morelli - great fun and great story too! This time Stephanie is knee deep in 'burg bad boys and caskets!
Stephanie and Joe - hot, hot, hot.
I am not sure why they picked this narrator - she sounds like a 60 year old woman who has been smoking and drinking for 40 years, raspy and aged. Stephanie is supposed to be 30 years old (from One for the Money) so why voice her with a whisky/cigarette voiced older woman? The narator also has a timing issue, every. word. comes. out. as if. it. is. a. complete. sentence. And you can hear every intake of breath - distracting to say the least. That being said - her New Jersified "burg" accent is spot-on and I find her totally believable when she is discussing Stephanie's neighborhood and lifestyle, it is just her perceived age that gets me - I flip back and forth between a sexy 30 yr old that Ranger and Joe Morelli are drooling over and the 60 yr old that she sounds like... Hopefully the later books are voiced by a younger sounding woman.
No - but that is not really my style, audible books are for sitting in the daily commute, so they usually take me a few weeks of 3040 mins at a time.
