Where SEP comes up with her ideas for a story line are beyond me and that is why I personally LOVE THEM. And the author's tongue-in-cheek runs satisfyingly high in this novel. Expect to laugh, snicker, guffaw, and even cackle through out the listen. The romance builds up in a unique and satisfying development. The heroine is spunky but not smug. No excuses are made for her flaws; real life flaws that we can all relate to --- so you can't help but champion the heroine's endeavor to overcome.
Adding her own distinct mark, Shannon Cochran fills in beautifully for the dearly missed Anna Fields. In my humble opinion, should now and forever be THE voice of an SEP audio production. Her voice is natural and she is very adept of giving each character their own unique tone. She conveys ALL the emotions, especially humor with excellent timing.
It was a great story that kept me entertained through the whole book, Just never new what to expect. I could not turn off my ipod , Loved how the woman in the story was consistently unsettling the man and vice versa. I would recommend it to anyone!!!
I thought this book was great! I didn't want it to end! Please SEP write faster! I love your books!
LOVED IT.. And expected nothing less.. She's an amazing author and one who always lives up to your expectations!! I've read everything of hers, so I enjoyed how some of my favorite characters came together.. Hope the next one comes out a lot sooner than this one took. I'm hooked.. again!
I am a huge fan of romances and happy endings. I like books that take me away from everyday life and into the land of romance, some adventure and of course happy endings.
This author never lets me down. I love all of her books. I think with this book she was able to capture some of the humor she lost in the last few books that she has written.
This book had me scrambling to reread some of her earlier books and I enjoyed them as much as I did the first time around.
I don't know.. maybe because I waited forever for this book to come out and that made my expectations too high?? Personally feel it is not as good as some of her others and I love SEP's books. I'll have to listen to it again, I guess. But hope Lucy's story is better.
I couldn't remember the detailed histories of the repeat characters but loved it anyway. It is always a please to read these author.
This was a great book. I listened to it in one weekend...I didn't want to put down my iPod! Better (to me!) than the last few SEP books.
She (SEP) did again, another good book I would give the book 5+ stars if I could. Many funny spots in the book and I loved the story and it was realistic--sexy scenes were great also.
The only thing that would have made it better is to have Anna Fields reading it (which can't happen) or someone that gives that "oomph" that Anna did. Shannon Cochran did a pretty good job (I give her a 3+), but I did not get that feel I wanted to hear when you listen to Anna. I kept hearing someone with a northern dialect trying to portray a southerner and it was not all that convincing, but she still got her funny jabs in when required. While I think Anna was a northerner (from Seattle--right?), she got that southern accent down perfect. I suggest to whoever makes the decision to try Therese Plummer or Anne Dawe next time. I wonder if anyone from the Audible reads the ratings.
Despite my critique of Ms. Cochran's reading, I will listen again.
I can't wait for Lucy's story. SEP, hopefully it will not be another year before you write her story. And another Chicago Stars story as well.
