I first have to say this turned out to be a wonderful book! What I love best about Karen's books is although there's often different struggles/plot twists, she takes care to build them in a believable way.
The narrators did an awesome job as well and help to make the story come alive. The "rattle snake" sound that Phil does gave me chills each time - he's just plain AMAZING!
I must admit that the first 3 hours were a struggle for me. I selfishly didn't like where the story was leading but, since I hate reading reviews where others are upset/angry about the direct an author took, I stuck with it, let the story unfold and was completely rewarded!!! This is within my top 5 favorite book series!
I enjoy supernatural romances and fantasy!
I loved the book, it truly delivered! And then, as much as I wanted to know how it would end, I am so sad it's ended.
What a great read -- there was a villain, there were all sorts of twists and turns, there was a happy ending, but realistic, based on the story, greed, lust -- lots of that -- and many shades of grey! Karen Marie Moning truly delivered, and I can't wait for her next book!
I can only imagine those who had to wait months for the final book. I started with Dreamfever (BK 4) on Monday and waited 5 minutes to download Shadowfever (BK 5) on Wednesday and damn near died of suspense.
Worth the wait, but how could she possibly leave some questions unanswered? Please, please write more! Very fun series, excellent audio interpretation -- it adds to the book and is almost as you probably imagined, only better.
I was so excited to for this book as I had followed Mac's story from the beginning. Two days after finishing this book I'm still feeling like WTH? After 19 hours you find that Ms. Moning can use a lot of words and say absolutely nothing or repeat things she has said over and over from the first book. This is a problem that a lot of authors run in to, they want to write a series of books but then feel the need to try to make each book in the series stand alone and immerse themselves in back story from the previous books to where the loyal listeners get sick of the repetition. These books cannot be read stand alone and the author ruined the series by trying to make them so. After 19 hours, you would think that all the story lines would have been resolved...you would think. I give it three stars for the story in between all the gibberish but agree with so many who have said editing is a wonderful tool that should be used.
I bought this audio book because of the 5-star rating..I can't understand what is going on and basically I've started listening to it 3 times and still don't "get it" and maybe why I think this book just stinks. Way too many adjectives, and it goes on and on about I can't figure out what??? I might try the other books in the series first, but only if someone gives them to me free...won't pay for any more of this author's work.
