In this installment of Cat and Bones' life things get really interesting. Seems there was another vampire in Cat's life before Bones. Worse yet, Mencheres knew it. Cat has alot to face in this book, her prejudices against vampires that she is still carrying around, her fear that Bones really isn't in it for the long run, and her humanity. Frost really outdid herself with this book, you are in for a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I will give this my usual for adults only rating, excellent for the narration, and worth the cash or credit.

I love books and love to get lost in the fantasy. I'm always looking for a new good story to bury myself in. :)
This was another great addition to the Night Huntress series. Cat and Bones are as good as always but have some problems to deal with in this book, both personal and not.
Cat was born a half-vampire and has had a tough life because of it. One bit of luck in her life was meeting Bones (a 200+ years old vampire) and their love for each other. Their relationship has had difficulties (including a 4 year separation) but they've worked hard to get back together and Cat and Bones will do what is needed to stay together. Unfortunately, in this book, Cat and Bones run in to someone that is trying very hard to split them up and may have a better chance at ti than anyone else ever has.
Cat used to work for a government agency that hunts bad vamps and either takes them out of captures them. After Cat almost lost Bones in the last book, she decides that she cared about him more than her job and quits to spend more time with Bones. They're taking a much needed vacation when issues start showing up to disturb their peace in the form of Cat having bad dreams about a vampire named Gregor. Gregor is a vampire that has the ability to see some future events. He saw a vision of Cat years ago and decided that he wanted her for his own. He is a dream snatcher that has the ability to come to people in their dreams and if he touches someone in their dreams he can transport that person to him. When he starts showing up in Cat's dreams but she doesn't realize what they mean at first. She can't remember much of them except that Gregor keeps telling her that Bones isn't her husband. This unsettles them but they decide to keep going on their vacation until they're attacked by Gregor's people. Apparently Gregor is tired of not being able to get Cat from her dreams and has decided to try to take Bones out and kidnap her. They try to run but Gregor follows them and it becomes evident that Gregor is somehow able to track them no matter how hard they try to fool him. Eventually they realize that Gregor is managing to get info out of Cat's dreams even when she doesn't realize he's there.
The major issue becomes the strain that the running and/or dealing with attacks puts on both Cat and Bones. Bones loves Cat dearly and has never had the danger of losing someone he loved so much before and it makes him stressed and also makes him act like kind of a jerk. Cat loves Bones but gets caught in a spiral of depression due to some pills she starts taking to try to stop her dreams. In her depression, she lashes out at Bones and he's so stressed he doesn't handle her well. In general, Cat and Bones go through a lot of crap while trying to deal with the crap Gregor heaps on them. It doesn't help when it comes out that Cat has a brief past with Gregor that she doesn't remember and Gregor is using it to try to get her back, saying they are bound together. Cat doesn't care about that and just wants Gregor to leave her and Bones alone. In her effort to work things out she makes some moves that piss Bones off and unfortunately doesn't get Gregor to back off. Gregor takes it even further, starting to spread rumors to the ghouls, telling them she's seeking power by wanting to turn in to a ghoul/vampire hybrid and tries to get the ghouls to go against Bones and Cat because of this. After much heartache and some major misunderstandings between Cat and Bones, Cat finally makes a major decision and decides to ask Bones for help with this decision. In the process of their discussion, Cat and Bones thankfully manage to talk things out and get their relationship back on track. Things are just getting back on track for them when Gregor strikes again and there's some major issues before everything is settled. Cat's mother has a major hurtle to overcome and a beloved secondary character is lost in the fight. Things are tough in the end and I wondered if things would really turn out ok for a few minutes but fortunately they do. Cat and Bones come out ok in the end and are able to get their HEA back on track (at least until the next book).
I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a great addition to the series. I hated seeing Cat and Bones having problems but it was nice in a way because it lets you know that even characters that are perfect for each other can have relationship troubles and still work things out. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series. I'd recommend this book. 2 thumbs up! :D
I think this is a great series no matter if you read it or listen to the audio version.
When Cat learn about what happens to her mom.
This was the best book in the series in my opinion, so I can't just name one scene.
I could not stop listening to this book. The narrator is awesome!
This series is definitely worth a credit.
Another series that I strongly recommend. Cat and Bones' relationship is tested in this book. Just like all of the other books this one is packed with action, romance and friendship!
I love this series. This is the only book out of all of them I am only going to listen to once. While there are many things in this story I appreciate and some of the plot twists are integral to future story lines the actions of both Cat and Bones really irritated me. There is a lot of angst in this novel, like on par with young adult dramas. The resolution of which I feel was both forced and very convenient for the author. The drama involved in this particular aspect of the story made me lose both respect and affection for Cat and Bones, which pains me to say. Although, by the next book both were back and well situated in my good graces. I can't in good conscience recommend skipping this book and moving on to the next as there are some really important developments that take place. Including some insight into Spade and his love interest that is featured in a spin off novel.
Oh, and Tavia Gilbert, as always, did a phenomenal job narrating this book. She is incredibly talented and always positively contributes to my listening experience.
Frost never fails to get my attention and Tavia Gilbert does an excellent job with the narration. I was skeptical when starting this series... so many vampire novels are either overly predictable or overly unimaginable. I did not think i would be able to finish the 1 st book and now i cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
Totally recommend this series!
This book was slightly more angsty than the first 3 books and had several surprises. Cat's mom being turned was both surprising and heart wrenching!
Haven't read it... love Tavia's performance too much
Others in the series... maybe Brotherhood books
The ending :-)
I loved it all
What can I say if you didn’t like the first three books then don’t bother? But if you have become a fan of the crazy ongoing relationship of Cat and Bones then climb on board for the ride. Because a ride you’ll get. This book comes down to choices for Cat and Bones and with any stormy relationship with fiery personalities there are all of those outside challenges and influences that make that choice more intense.
Yes this worth a credit
Fantasy & Sci-Fi lover who mostly refuses to read books without their audiobook counterparts. How else can a girl get any housework done?
Oh yes! In fact, I have already listened to it 3 times now and will more than likely do so again.
The whole Night Huntress series and its spin-offs, of course!
I have listened to all of Tavia's performances in the Night Huntress World and they are all amazing, just like this audiobook. She seems to truly get how Jeaniene intended her reading to come across...not that I know for sure, exactly, but you can just tell when a narrator "gets it."
I wanted to, but I try to force myself to take my time. You know, to "savor the flavor." :)
I loved this audiobook and it's actually one of my favorites of the whole Night Huntress series.
I have so many times I have lost count
The power of the love between bones and cat
How she acted out the over whelming emotions when bones and cats broke up
You did it again
Again I say what about Ian and will cat and bones ever have a wedding ceremony
