I have loved all of this authors books so far. This is why I was disappointed to realise that this book has an almost identical story line to SEP's It Had To Be You. SEP wrote a fantastic book and Rachel Gibson has written a really good imitation.
Avid Listener of Audible
Yes, the ending.
Probably not. It was not funny enough (which I like) and it veered more towards soft porn, which I did not expect.
Flat, unemotional, semi-versitle with voices
The narrator ruined this book for me. Not that the story itself was all that deep, but it would have been much more enjoyable to read than listen to. I honestly felt like I was either listening to someone making fun of the author or a virgin trying to deliver sexy lines. The narrator made each character sound SO stereotypically "cheesy romance" that at times I couldn't even listen to the book. I ended up skipping to the end about half way through just so I could know how it ended. I couldn't bear listening to another hour of Susan Bennett's impression of sexy one-liners.
I liked the storyline in general, but the main characters needed more... well... character.
The narrator should have practiced "playful" instead of "sultry" voices.
Great idea for a book... horrible follow-through.
A gadabout with no room for heavy books, so love the audio ones.
I did not enjoy anything about this book. Or narrator, (pauses so long I thought my nano shut off)
Say something about yourself!
I enjoy this author's writing. The storyline may not be new...but she gives it a contemporary spin. I enjoyed this one and the others about this hockey teams members. I read Any Man of Mine first and thoroughly enjoyed that love story, and the narrator. I managed with this narrator but had to work at it. I can't explain the oddity of the ear "listening" to a book. The narrator can turn off one person and another enjoys them. So it is just your preferance. However I appreciate the work they do. They make books available to me and I love Audible. I think you can enjoy this light read, relate to the characters even if you know nothing of hockey...like me.
