I gave this book a low rating because I hated the way the male characters were performed and the females were only a little bit better. What I enjoy about this type of book is the characters and the narrator. The males all sounded like they were very old and the lead male was even garbled. I kept falling asleep and never even felt like listening to the end. I was very disappointed with the experience.
Hope, Dreams, Love
The description of the destruction of a place in the story.
She was good at portraying the characters and making Derek seem more vulnerable and strong at the same time.
Nothing. Would like listening to another book narrated by Rosalyn Landor.
Glad to be part of the audible community and I hope that my reviews help to choose the right book and share my love of reading.
Flat story. Characters are unrealistic, bland and underdeveloped. Some emotions or behaviors were well characterized but overall this is a miss.
The performance killed it for me. The female voices were stiff and over articulated. The male voices were horrible. They made me cry and I am still sobbing.
English was well written. Some aspects poked my wanting to keep listening but there was no connection between the reader and the characters
Would not waste a credit on this book and avoid this narrator
I only have purchased the audio edition and would not have been able to read the book.
The Era it was set in
The voice for the male charachter was almost startling at times! The female characters were perfect pitch though.
Mother of 3, grandmother of 6, retired nurse and substance abuse counselor. Thrilled to have the time to read or listen to books again.
Ms. Kleypas has a real talent for writing love stories that grab your interest and keeps it through out the entire book. I also just love how she writes a different book about every character in her series, how each of them have to earn their happily ever after. I rate all her books at least a 4 star rating with the exception of the 2 Russian books which I felt didn't quite measure up to her usual standard. I always look for her books when perusing my wish list and hers are usually the first that go into my cart. This book was especially sweet as I was drawn to Derrick when I read Lilly's story and wondered what she would do with his character.
I throughly enjoyed the book, another good job Ms. Klepas and of course no fault can ever be found with the narrator Rosalyn Landor.
Something about yourself.
This is such a great read. The plotting, characters, secondary characters, location, friends, fashion, and passion all very consistently high quality. I did not enjoy the narrator's portrayal of Derek Craven. I also think his name should've been Crave because Craven means coward and that was a weird name for a good guy.
I listened to this book a few years ago, and loved it. I've just finished listening to it again, and again loved it. The characters are complex and interesting, and I really care about the good guys. The plot interesting and suspenseful, and Rosalyn Landor brings all the characters totally alive. As with almost all of Lisa Kleypas' books, I am entranced and moved and entertained by her stories.
It's all about romance in my library! I have a wonderful husband, children and my grandchildren they are my rock.
It needs to be noted that this is the 2nd book of Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas.
I recommend this book, it about Lilly's friend Derek Craven.
The entire story line was really good.
Rosalyn was amazing in Derek voice, it's written in the book, he had the heavy english accent, it was hard to understand (more like street talk from a poor neighborhood). My opinion she did a good job!
