audio addict! Mostly interested in history and some historical fiction. Will Durant is my all time favorite. Loving the Great Courses too.
I don't need to write too much here, as this is a highly beloved and acclimed Kleypas novel. So I'll give my experience with the audio book.
The book that is before this one: I believe it's Then came You, with Alec and Lilly, was one of my Kleypas favorites.
I went straight on to listen to this and couldn't get into it at first. I had Kleypas burn-out: I had listened to nearly evey audible book she authored, and all in one month... So I took a couple of months reading other authors, and finally came back to this. It really annoyed me that the one book I didnt get into was such a favorite for everyone else. I was left out :) Most Kleypas reviewers, authors, readers, etc considered Dreaming of You to be their favorite novel. So 3 or 4 months later, I find myself so silly and in love with this story . It's heartbreakingly sweet, sensual, interesting, enchanting, just a fantastic read!
Lisa kleypas never dissapoints me. But this stands out. And together with Rosalyn Landors, this is the romance dream team... :) Seriously Landors IS the voice of most of my favorite characters. Even The Bride...
Highly recommended. I would start with "Then Came You" (prequel about Lily and Alec. One of my three favorite LK books) then read this. What a treat.
Hope, Dreams, Love
The description of the destruction of a place in the story.
She was good at portraying the characters and making Derek seem more vulnerable and strong at the same time.
Nothing. Would like listening to another book narrated by Rosalyn Landor.
I only have purchased the audio edition and would not have been able to read the book.
The Era it was set in
The voice for the male charachter was almost startling at times! The female characters were perfect pitch though.
Mother of 3, grandmother of 6, retired nurse and substance abuse counselor. Thrilled to have the time to read or listen to books again.
Ms. Kleypas has a real talent for writing love stories that grab your interest and keeps it through out the entire book. I also just love how she writes a different book about every character in her series, how each of them have to earn their happily ever after. I rate all her books at least a 4 star rating with the exception of the 2 Russian books which I felt didn't quite measure up to her usual standard. I always look for her books when perusing my wish list and hers are usually the first that go into my cart. This book was especially sweet as I was drawn to Derrick when I read Lilly's story and wondered what she would do with his character.
I throughly enjoyed the book, another good job Ms. Klepas and of course no fault can ever be found with the narrator Rosalyn Landor.
Something about yourself.
This is such a great read. The plotting, characters, secondary characters, location, friends, fashion, and passion all very consistently high quality. I did not enjoy the narrator's portrayal of Derek Craven. I also think his name should've been Crave because Craven means coward and that was a weird name for a good guy.
For years and many enjoyable stories we have read tidbits about the infamous CRAVENS GAMING CLUB, and FINALLY we have his and its story!
This STORY was definitely worth every moment of waiting. Mrs. Kleypas NEVER disappoints her readers. The story is beautiful, funny, heart warmingly endearing to ALL of the characters. I cannot wait to read any NEW stories that come along (soon I hope) and reread all of the previous ones that already exsist.
For a long time this was my favorite romance novel. After reading --and listening--to this again, it still is one of the very best.
Derek and Sara are wonderful together. The deep love and respect they have for each other is so touching. The dialogue is good and the sexual scenes are top notch. This has a good story and has all the elements of a satisfying romance. The reader does the various voices and accents well. Rosalyn Landor reads a lot of novels like this and does a reasonable job of portraying the emotions of the characters.
Highly recommend this one!
This book gets two thumbs up for narration, plot, and characters. It was hard to put it down as it kept you engaged throughout the story...even to the conclusion. There were twists and turns and the romance was developed slowly due to a number of obstacles; including Derek's psychological and emotional roadblocks (he is one of the main characters) and the other main character was Sarah. She was delightful and so tenacious right until the end of the book. So as not to spoil it; let me say that if you are a fan of romance, historical drama and silky smooth narration, then get it and have fun!
