that the twins' swap went undiscovered so long was ludicrous. The characters were flat and foolish. The basic setup with a quiet, shy twin discovering herself by rising to the demands of role of duchess was promising but unfulfilled. That the duke would insist on her filling in for her sister rather than the embarrassment of being left at the altar would have been much more believable.
not the genre but certainly the author.
Kit, the hero's brother.
I purchased this in the $4.95 sale. Having not read any of Tracy Ann Warren books before I didn't know what to expect. When it started I wasn't sure I was going to like it but it didn't take me long to fall in love with it. I couldn't put it down. Ms. Warren weaves such a wonderful tale and Bianca Amato read it so perfectly. I can't wait to purchase the rest of this trilogy and see what happens! She is now one of my favorite authors!
liked the plot although it became very predictable early on ...
didn't feel there was enough strife displayed during certain events ...
could do the graphic sex scenes which caused me to be glad I didn't pay much for this audible
the narrator did a fantastic job giving voice to each character
chance for a really in-depth story with this plot idea but unfortunately seemed to prefer to skim the top
The book started out slow and I found myself losing interest in the beginning but I persevered and I'm glad I did. I think that if I had been reading it instead of listening to it I would have given up but the narrator had a good voice and portrayed the characters well which kept me going through the slow beginning. About halfway through the book I became interested in how the characters would resolve their difficulties and began to enjoy the story. I would have given the story a higher rating if it hadn't been for the ending I didn't like Violet's last deception I thought it was a bit silly and it frustrated me that she would have done it. But over all it was a good story and I enjoyed the minor characters enough to want to download the rest of the series.
No, too long. It was well worth the time to go back to it. I never felt that I was lost when I had to stop or restart it.
This was a really good book. It kept my attention and I didn't feel like it was "just like all the other romance novels". I enjoyed listening to it and can't remember ever feeling like it was running on too long, it is an 11 hour book! It was enjoyable and I would recommend it. I am planning on listening to the others in the series soon.
i was really happy with this book. i couldn't stop listening to it. stayed up till 2 in the morning until it was over. can't wait to listen to the other 2.
Performance and setting were very enjoyable. The plot was good but somewhat contrived.
32 years old and still addicted to happy endings!
Many women have an insecurity about being lovable or perfect enough.
Men will always get angry when they are lied to, or their Pride is poked
Giving someone a chance to love you is sometimes the most important step.
Kit - He has a purity and honesty about him. He may be young, but he is intelligent and faithful to those he loves.
Violet overcomes herself.
Adrian is not unredeemable or unrealistic.
They were all voiced very well, and I could tell the difference between the men/women/character voices. She is very talented. Violet was the best portrayed because (despite its annoying debut) her shaky emotional voice was well suited for the risks Violet took.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes an abundance of emotion and knows how it is to be a bit self conscious about yourself romantically/beautifically/socially.
love can conquer all, but this book grabs the reality that lies effect everyone, and you have to be prepared to overcome the consequences of it. The lack of huge numbers of characters help you really get to know your 3-4 main characters. Their responses become very real and you sympathize with all of them because you know very deeply where they all are coming from. However, I felt a little empty at the end because I wanted to hear more (since the entire book was about the consequences of lies, half truths, and forgiveness) on the way society/family responded to the lies/half-truths. Despite not being able to know all of the characters as well as Adrian, Violet, Kit, and Janette by-proxy, it was a very enjoyable read that pulled emotion from every page.
Once you got past the first hour you get sucked in. I really enjoyed the historical aspect of this book and have now purchased the other two in the series. I did want to yell at Violet! she never does what makes sense and makes matters worse. It is a easy listen and enjoyable if you like period books.
Emotional, touching, hopeful
One of the most memorable moments for me was the night, shortly after they were married, when Adrian had Violet take the lead in their lovemaking. Such a romantic and feeling husband is what all us wives hope for in our husband.
No I have not, but she is FABULOUS! You can really tell the characters apart. You forget it is one person doing the voices because her inflections and tones are spot-on. I love listening to Bianca act/speak/tell the story.
The most touching moment for me was when Adrian found the letter in the fireplace. From that moment until he found Violet again--at their honeymoon location--had me near tears with the betrayal and inner struggle Adrian was feeling. It was written so suspensefully, I couldn't stop listening.
I can't wait to read Tracy's other three novels! The end of this one had me wanting to hear more about Violet's friend, Adrian's brother, and of course the infamous Jeannette!
