Dunham tells his life story with the occasional help of his characters. The snark I'm used to in his standup isn't much here -- instead, he tells things sincerely. It's calm, but not boring.
I have been a fan of Jeff Dunham since the early 90's and was interested about his autobiography. I was moved by Jeff's openness in sharing his life story. Where many may try to only show the good side, Jeff shared the good, the bad, and the ugly of his life's journey. Only Jeff Dunham could have performed this audio book as there are many sidebar comments from his characters scattered throughout the book. The comments made in character just do not translate as well in the print version as hearing Jeff do his comic schtick. If you are a Jeff Dunham fan, I highly recommend this book.
Worth lisining to again, Jeff worked hard to get where he is and I could relate to alot of it.
Love all of Jeff's characters, but Walter is my hero. He tells it like it is, open and honest.
yes...parts of it
very good and used other voices
who is that speaking
very good...a bit sad...but Jeff stays upbeat
Yes, to catch some of the things I did not hear the first time.
How Achmed saved him from U.S troops.
Hearing about meeting Bob Hope, George Burns, Johnny Carson and Milton Berle.
I couldn't, it was 8 hours long.
I couldn't wait to get back into the car to turn it on again.
It's a little slow in parts.
Yes, if they are fans of Jeff & his "friends".
He sounded a little stiff in places.
No. There is only so much information a person wants to know.
As fan's of Jeff & his friends my husband & I enjoyed learning about his journey to stardom. He has had an interesting life.
The Mommy Store
Loved the way he uses his different character's voices in the audio book!
Not all in one sitting.
I knew Jeff Dunham from my college days so it was so interesting learning about his life and how he started out and evolved. What a great story!
In the book, Jeff adds inserts from his characters. Hearing him read the book and speaking in the characters' voices makes it such fun to listen.
Jeff relates stories of his ups and downs with humor and honesty.
the characters' voices
This book gives insight to Jeff Dunham's journey to become the comic/ventriloquist he is today. He has spent 40 years working on his craft and never wavered from his goal.
I sincerely enjoy Jeff's unique brand of comedy. I have bought each of his DVD's and even got to see him live once. I found it most interesting to learn how his career has progressed from High School kid who must have been the outsider "puppet geek" to his peers to being one of the best darn comics and entertainers of our times. I learned alot about the art of ventriloquism, and a brief history of the art as well as how Jeff has most certainly earned his place through his hard work, dedication and sheer will. As with all his shows, his characters add a nice blend of "Jeff's other selves" as his best loved characters come to life in this self narrated autobiography. (Unless you count the characters piping up when they have something to add as another narrator, but that would be pretty anal, don't you agree?)
Fantastically written comic's biography. Never a dull moment, and I must admit I'm sorry to hear about Jeff's recent divorce. Hopefully he and his girls manage well in his new life and his new romance. Best wishes Jeff, and thanks for sharing your story with the fans.
