I really enjoyed the characters and storyline in this book and I have to confess I was a bit surprised when it came out who Joanne's protagonist was. The reader did make it fun to listen to also.
I love clean books of all sorts. Love mysteries, fantasies epic to kids stories, fairy tales, romances, humor, and historical fiction
I bought this on sale and on a whim. I wish I hadn't. Out of the 424 books I own on Audible this will be the first that I don't finish. Probably shouldn't have finished a couple of others, but I liked the characters and the story enough to wade through the smut and finish. Luckily, out of all those books only a small handful have been bad enough not to finish. Usually I try to do my homework.
I do NOT like books that have tons of swearing, especially f words, and too graphic sexual encounters. I stopped when it said she was about to describe how she'd lost her virginity. I found that I just didn't care enough to go on and I didn't want to know how she'd lost her virginity. Talk about OFF topic!
I LOVE fantasy. I LOVE weather. I've read other stories about weather mages and have LOVED them. I love adventures and drama and all kinds of books, just hate the romance genre.
I'm not sure what this book was supposed to be but it is somewhere between a romance novel and fantasy. I LOVE pure fantasy authors. This one just wasn't for me. I so wish books were rated. This one would be R or worse. What I read was definitely R.
The narrator was good. I just can't recommend the author or the story.
I recently finished reading all the books for this series for the 2nd time. I decided to review them all together because I think of them as one long book, not to be read out of order. I've never finished a series of books, turned right around and started them over again, but that's how much I loved this story and the characters. I loved Joann and David as a couple, I love their steadfast love story, David is the man most women wished they had. They have a difficult time, go thru a roller coaster from hell, each book cranking up the OMG factor as far as inhumanly possible. But, Rachel Caine out does herself with this complicated story with so many well drawn, fantastic characters and a freaking crazy plot that is totally unique. There is a lot of humor added in to give my heart a rest from time to time, but damn....what a story!
“I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.” ― Jorge Luis Borges
The book was just okay in my opinion. It shows promisse to be an interesting series.
Listener of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Intrigue (not romance), Historical Fiction and very eclectic in her literary wanderings.
It's a good solid story in the modern world mixes with folklore stuff. I like the concept of Weather Wardens. I would like to hear more about other kinds of Wardens. The plot keeps pace and there's plenty of frolicking in between.
Narrator did well- voices solid, moved with pace of the action
I felt the ending was a bit of a let down. Huge build up and then...bam I almost missed it.
I think the story is pretty good but the writing is sub-par and the reader has strange inflections the often confuse the emotions of the characters.
The character development is the greatest part of this story, I love them all which is what makes this so frustrating...can't decide if the characters are worth reading the rest of this series!
She is good at voices but occasionally ignores punctuation and confuses the listener.
None, love all the characters
If you are like me and get connected to characters despite a lacking story line and sub-par writing I would suggest not starting this series. I want to find out what happens to the characters but the story is annoying. Fun but frustrating!
I am married with a teenage son and run my own business. As I am visually impaired, audio books are my life.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one. It was a random pick for me. It's one of those books you can't put down.
I'm about 1/2 way thru this book and it feels like 10 years...
I enjoyed Ms. Caines Morganville Vampire series, and was looking forward to more of her writing.
This book didn't deliver. For a woman in peril story, the pacing and narration is very slow.
Do we really care if the heroine looks like Prince threw up on her?
