"Typical Alex Cross"
I enjoyed the latest Alex Cross book Cross Fire. Was concerned to discover a new reader in Andre Braugher but he did not disappoint. It's going to take a little while to totally get used to him but he did fine. Glad that there's some closure to Alex's hunt for one of his nemesis. Don't want to give anything away but I was happy at the end. Looking forward to the next chapter in the life of Alex and family.
"Cross Fire by James Patterson"
He's back!!!! I have enjoyed each and every one of the Alex Cross series. It was refreshing not to have a co author writing under Patterson's name. Well worth a listen.
"Great!! Really enjoyed!"
This is the typical ride you get in a Cross novel. I don't understand the negative feedback about the narration, I enjoyed Andre and didn't have any trouble with him as Cross. If you are a Cross fan this is a great, quick read.
Say something about yourself!
"Not the same old Alex Cross"
I have to agree with Sam to a certain extent, having Andre Braugher narrate make me feel like I'm in the middle of an episode of Homicide: Life on the Streets. I'm not sure what the reason is for changing narrators and hopefully this is not a permanent change, if so I may have to actually read any new Alex Cross books. The story was very enjoyable and left me wanting more. I have always enjoyed this series and cannot wait until the next one, hopefully I'll listen to it.
"Andre Braugher's narration ruined this book!"
I own every Alex Cross audiobook and I have fallen in love with the "voice" of Alex Cross....well, the love affair is over. Andre Braugher is a great actor but he absolutely sucks as Alex Cross. He reads as if he is rushing to complete the story most of the way through and maintains the same voice for all represented characters. 60 minutes in I went to Target and purchased the book because I couldn't take the audio any longer. Mr. Patterson threatens to kill of Alex Cross if we don't buy the book.....BUY THE BOOK....as far as I am concerned... the real Alex Cross is dead.
"Loved it All - Including Narration!"
I enjoyed the story line, the writing and the narration! It was one of the best and I loved every moment.
"Another good Cross novel"
I have to disagree with previous reviewers who didn't like Andre Braugher's narration. I thought he did a great job as the voice of Alex Cross. I didn't get the feeling he was rushing through the reading-just reading at a reasonable pace. He wasn't an overly dramatic reader, which I found quite refreshing. The story wasn't quite as gripping as some Cross novels but still had it's tense moments and moved us along in the tale of Alex Cross's life.
"Should have read hard copy."
As a James Patterson/Alex Cross fan, this book does not disappoint. While the content was great, the narration leaves a lot to be desired. I will read the next Alex Cross book but if the narrators are the same, I will most likely buy the hard copy.
Reading has always been my guilty pleasure. I would take stacks of books from the library. Now I listen to Audible.
"Patterson is back!"
This book was great. It kept us enthralled to the end.
The narration was excellent. I loved the separation of the characters voices, they enhanced the story.
