This is my first and last purchase of an Audible Alex Cross novel by James Patterson. There are two different narrators here and it is like night and day. The reader of Alex Cross' voice is genuinely terrible! He is mono-toned, has no inflection, no acting ability, and hurries through the reading like he is just trying to get it done, rather than interest the listener. Who thought this reader would be a good choice? Incredibly bad decision.
The other reader was pretty decent but does not make up for the Alex Cross voice. The reader of an Audible book has a responsibility to entertain the listener, but the opposite has happened here.
I may have given this book more stars if the reader had done a good job, but because he ruined the listening experience, the book gets one star.
I agree with Sam (below). Andre Braughter is no Peter Fernandez (aka Alex Cross). I enjoyed the flow of the Cross Fire, especially learning what Kyle Craig has up his sleeve, hovwever the ending was a bit anti-clamatic for me; just my humble opinion.
The story is a bit dry. Not the level of suspense we've had with Cross novels of the past. We've also had enough Kyle Craig. Hopefully this is his true demise. Too much Alex and Bree action. This is a suspense novel, not soft porn. The narrator doesn't compare to Cross narrator's of the past.
Enjoying every listen.
Yes, I would. Only for those who would enjoy follow the James Patterson series. If you are into crime, mystery, and suspense you will like the book.
The Butcher, was not a favorite but complex.
Alex continues to take way too many chances, but I enjoy the entertainment that the book offers.
Good story, good narration
The story lines...minus the ending!
Great narration, liked the voices-very skilled readers
Good story, thought the conclusion was to simplistic...
Worth the read
Any other James Patterson with Alex Cross book.
They were great together and Mr. Braugher's voice was the perfect fit for Alex Cross. It was my first audio book and I'm afraid Mr.s Braugher and Sanders' set the bar pretty high for any other narrators. Listening to them didn't take away from the reader experience and kept me interested and paying attention from start to finish.
Patterson is already a great author, but I'll definitely buy more of his books in the audible format.
