As I enjoyed the premise of a group of smart, fit women who can kick ass as well as any man, I was dismayed by their constant bantering about "men". In my pass 45 years as a working professional, I do not recall spending so much time taking about men
a male voice is better for this series with all due respect I have heard some awesome stories narrated by ladies but this subject is more appealing with males. thank you very good thiugh
I have been reading the series from the beginning and just finished The Athena Project. I listened to the entire book but never got into the characters or storyline. The readers voice was very boring and I couldn't wait for the book to be over. I rated all the previous books as a 5 star but could not in good conscience rate this higher than a 2.
I've read many / almost all of Brad Thor's work and while in any books of this genre you need to ignore the significant incorporation of actions which defy belief that was not the problem with the Athena Project. Of course the usual suspending belief was there.
The problem was with the endless petty dialogue between the heroines about romance or lack of it, men or lack of them, their mutual fan club for each other's good looks, etc.
These are supposed to be an elite hit squad on a mission to save life as we know it, but still the corny female gossip and chit chat can't take a break.
l stuck with it but definitely would not recommend it.
the story is absolutely beyond reason. Action sections very unrealistic. My wife would find it degrading to women. I have read many of his books and this is by far the worst. It must have been a filler and after thought for the series. Now I am not sure about reading the remaining books.
Stayed with the series.
Story reads like a comic book of super Herod. I don not know what happened as I have enjoyed his other books.
