This first audio book by Adam Carolla acts as a “best of” his rants from the past ten years of radio and podcasting. If you are a casual fan of his show, you’ll like this book. If you are a Carolla fanatic, you’ll love it…even though you’ve heard it all before. Either way, buy it. It is very conversational in a one-sided kind of way and covers many real issues as well as what you would expect from a Loveline/Man Show host. I doubt you are considering this listen if you don’t have previous experience with Adam, and if that is the case, check out a few episodes of his podcast before deciding on the book. They are free and there are a lot of them. The guy is one of the funniest and smartest on a mic, and above all, he likes to talk.
Had so much fun listening. So glad you chose to do the narration yourself. Would recommend highly to everyone...except maybe nunns and small children...heck, nunns would probably like it too. Very entertaining and insightful. I so agree with you about sid and marty and swarma may be the best thing i miss about living in LA. I wish I could get some right now. Thanks Adam,
Ace is the man. His points of view are hilariously accurate. If you're an opinionated person that likes his pod cast then you'll love the book. MUST listen.
I bought this based on other reviews as I like easy/funny books. This was absolutely horrible. Not funny in the least and not even the least bit entertaining. Buyer beware
I'm a big Adam Carolla fan, I've listened to his radioshow and podcast for years and I watched his movie and shows. He's really funny, but there is nothing new in this book. It's his same material that he does over and over again.
Bottom line, don't expect anything new. If Adam Carolla is new to you, you should definitely get this book. If you listen to his free podcasts you've heard it all before.
I have always enjoyed hearing Adam on Howard Stern and loved him on the Man Show. There are some funny parts of this book, but it's a lot more of him just hating people. When Sam Kinnison talked about hating people it was funny. But when Adam does it, it comes across as just hate. He hates Valet Parkers. He hates security people at Disneyland who have to follow the rules. When he got to the part about how he hates Sid and Marty Kroft, I thought "Now this will be funny. He'll go off an explanation of how Sigmund the Sea Monster was not his favorite show." But instead he just says they are terrible writers and that he hates them. Not a lot of funny stuff to back it up.
As much as I like Adam Corolla, I don't recommend this audio book.
It's funny, really funny. Society has gone nuts and his take is well worth a listen. Metrosexuals should skip this and go for an $8 Starbucks.
Wow, I really thought I liked Adam Carolla but upon hearing his world view I am no longer a fan. Adam is very forthright in the beginning of this book by admitting he is dumb, i.e. he doesn't know how to read or write due to his focus on sports in high-school and the fact that he was just passed over from grade to grade.
That admission aside, he then goes on to actually prove his stupidity by attempting to explain how he thinks US tax policy should work. Great, an admitted moron now thinks he is smart enough to develop a fair system of taxation. Purely due to the fact that he is a friend of Jimmy Kimmel, this ass-wipe thinks that he "worked hard" and "earned" all his millions of dollars in annual income. Loser here would still be a high-school drop-out and digging ditches for $7.00 and hour if not for Jimmy Kimmel. He has zero talent and has zero work for all the millions in income he has. Given that he luckily sneaked into the upper-class purely by knowing someone who has talent, he then goes on to rationalize his millions and to rant on our current taxation system. Specifically, that the rich are over taxed in the US! He is angry that the top 1% of the US pay 40% of the taxes in the US. Really? Well maybe you should also mention that the richest 1% of the US also owns as much as the combined wealth of the bottom 90%, or perhaps even more, before you start ranting that the poor rich people in the US are over-taxed.
What a total douchey ass-wipe. Unsubscribing from his podcast now.
The great Adam carolla can do no wrong. If you are familiar with his work you will love this audio.
