I am a big fan of Molly Harper but this was a little different for me. Not as funny as her other books but kept my attention.
I'm a relationship coach (QueenBeesCoaching), survived raising my children and have a loving relationship. Life is good!
I really, really, like Molly Harper's stories. This one was the last of her stories, to date anyway, and I'm sad there are no more to listen to. I'm hoping she turns into quite the prolific writer! I'll support her by happily buying any story she writes.
This one is very typical for a romance, but at the same time, it's very different. Our heroine, Lacey, is very much the typical housewife who has lived life as her husbands supporter. Everything revolves around him until the day she discovers the affair.
When it came to where Lacey was writing the company newsletter and you hear the narrator, Amanda Ronconi's fabulous voice laden with sarcasm, reading the newsletter out loud as it's being written, well I laughed my butt off. I was cheering Lacey on and wishing I'd had some of the authors ability with words to use in my own daily life.
So while you know it's a romance and she finds her right guy... it's still a fun read and a different type of story line.
If you like a sassy, funny and slightly sarcastic book, then this one is for you. Any book that has me laughing out loud in surprise and delight, is a book I will be listening to again. It made a 3 hour drive, plus a full day at the hospital (Mom having surgery), just sail by. I used the headphones and kept listening, although it surprised the hospital staff quite a bit when there was this strange woman sitting in a waiting room all alone and laughing out loud!!
I'm so sad to have reached the end of Molly Harpers audiobooks. :( But at least I can find out what other books the narrator, Amanda Ronconi, worked on. As far as I'm concerned, Amanda's rendition of Molly Harper's books elevates them to fantastic and fabulous. I'm a very happy customer indeed!
This was a hysterical listen. It's a little out of the realm for my normal read, but I truly enjoy Molly Harper so I gave it a shot and was delightfully rewarded.
It's snarky, funny, bright, well written and well read. I can't reccomend it highly enough. I literally had to cover my mouth to keep from laughing aloud.
Women will roll in the floor with this great narration of a funny book. Amanda Ronconi has absolutely nailed the style and voice of Molly Harper's character.
I LOVED this book! What a great story!!! And SO funny!
For anyone who's ever been hurt by a man; this book is for you!
I loved it! Snappy writing. A good healing book for a woman wronged or just a fun read. I liked the way the character took a good look at her life and made conscious choices to improve it--not just fall into another problem.
I like Mollys style of writting. It was a believable story line. I laughed at it out loud. Ready for her next book.
I totally enjoyed this book! This author/narrator pairing was perfect! I laughed so hard! This one is worth listening to more than once.
Ms. Harper reminds me of early Janet Evanovich books - without the mystery. Or the guns, crazy grandmothers and criminals. She is a genuinely funny author and that is actually a rarity. Her characters, and they are real "characters", are a mess, they make stupid decisions, which they compound by worse choices. But you have to love them. Even the ones you aren't supposed to love.
This is a very light, quick but satisfying read and I recommend it for anyone looking for a few escapist hours. I'm not usually a big chicklit fan. But I enjoyed this book so much that I broke a longstanding promise to myself and read her next series, even though they were about vampires and werewolves, two fantasy genres I avoid even more than chicklit. Guess what? They were funny and engaging too. I hope she continues to write and expands her genres. I will continue to read.
The narration was very good as well. The voice and the author's vision matched well together.
