Great book, inpowerment and motivational. Show how small are our regular problems and how we can achieve greatness if we really want and chase, focus and dedicate ourselves to achieve it.
Truly inspirational. If you didn't feel like you had to go and achieve something after listening to this well then you are not normal. Feeling all the POSI vibes from Matthew. ++
Matthew set himself a goal and no matter what he found a way to achieve it. Living the true YOLO lifestyle
Loved the audio so much if it was in print I would have read the book through the night! Well put together and inspiring.
Matt Long and all his family and buddies!
Rough sexy voice!
Lots of insights, importance of family and friends! Reminds me how much I love running! Most interesting part for me as a South African woman living in Maputo it was so interesting learning re NY! Only thing missing was - did he meet girl of his dreams yet?
Just love books.
The narration was good, the story incredible!
I like the fact that Mathew Long didn't cover the fact that at times he had a bad attitude about the situation he found himself in but he eventually found his way. We are not all positive thinkers all of the time as the experts like to tell us to be.
I cried at the marathon. What an achievement.
Excellent book and so inspiring. So great to listen to while out for a bike ride or a run.
Yes, the blackest points in his life and how he managed to crawl back up and keep trying.
This book is very inspiring.
I know of his family and have spent time with his father, This book kept me wanting to listen and run more. I enjoyed the narrators take on his accent and found it endearing. His story is truelly awe inspiring. The ups and downs paint a great picture.
The book was emotional at times, but it doesn't stick to a low point for any length of time.
Great read for anyone who likes to be inspired, who needs to be reminded of how blessed they are. Would be good for a younger person too.
This is an incredible story about the power of the human spirit and our ability to overcome all obstacles
This book made me want to run and run and run as hard as I can
Yes - I loved the way the story unfolds of past and present stories
Nothing - He sounded just like a guy from NYC
Listen to this even if you have no interest in running
Pushed beyond all reasonable limits this man survived and thrived when others would have quit.
Matt because of the strength he showed. Yes he had his self-pity moments, but who wouldn't in his situation.
He's an athlete with a character of fun!
The injuries he sustained and survived! Oh my gosh!!!
When someone is feeling weak, share this book.
Yes, great encouragement for those long roads in front you. I personally found the story extremely engrossing. Very enjoyable story with real characters, brought to life with in a way that grips you.
The Long Run was a great listen. The narrator sounded like he could have authored the story - a rough New Yorker with some soft spots on the inside. I guess this enhanced the listen, but sometimes it was kind of distracting. Moments when it was especially distracting included anytime the author talked about his childhood and how his parents made it work with very little at times. The narrator makes the story sound exaggerated at times and the story really speaks for itself.
This book was uplifting and heartbreaking and then uplifting again. I've never, so badly, wanted the best for a complete stranger. Long seems like the kind of guy everyone loves, and there are moments in his story where you really empathize with not only his physical struggle to recovery, but the emotional, and social recovery too.
My only complaint with the story was that the author gets a little political, and I don't much agree with his politics. It could be frustrating when he would lay it on thick, but any political side comments were at least short.
I listened to this book while training for a marathon and it really inspired me to push myself and be thankful for the body and abilities I have. That's probably my biggest takeaway from the read - our bodies are amazing and we should be taking advantage of that every day.
Great listen for any one athlete. Or anyone that wants to be one.
