Sassy dialogue, humor, and a great reader are important to me.
I own hundreds to be listened to and could not afford to waste any more of my listening time
This had a good summery and even has more stories for a series, ie j.d. Robb. However, turned off by this reader!
This reader Ruined a good story! Gads, doesn't the production engineer review after First 30 min? This reader must have walked into the recording studio without ever reviewing the book at all. Her voice was so sqweekey she made our hero so dull! Why would I even bother to review the rest of the series?
Unfortunately, I did not listen to this book when I first purchased, and now suck with a book I had to stop listening to after 40 mins into story.
Yes.. I like the twist to the book, thought it was well written
I liked the pitch to her voice it allowed me to connect with the characters
We've got him outnumbered; hope he can learn to like girly books.
After reading the reviews my expectations for this book were high. At times it delivered. I had several problems with the story however. First I have never read a book about today's world where police officers had the amount of power Sam and her colleagues did. Second an investigating officer sleeping with someone involved in an investigation? The level of romance in his book seemed to be preponderantly heavy vis a vis the amount of police work. though the book had it's moments it isn't one I can recommend.
This is a wonderful murder mystery with an intriguing plot, well developed characters, and perfect narration. After the privileged senator is murdered, his kinky secret life emerges, adding a host of characters to the list of suspects. The intense romance between Samantha (the chief investigator) and Nick (the late senator's chief of staff) appropriately evolves within the plot.
I'm disappointed that this is the only book from Marie Force. Please, Audible, add more of her books.
I love all genres of books. However, when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!
Emotional realism makes a story by Marie Force totally believable. All the way through FATAL AFFAIR, feelings are depicted with complete genuineness as sincerity backs any responses. Whether a character is in a jovial mood or is frightened by a traumatic event, their candidly honest thoughts are communicated with outspokenly frank words. Several of the discussions between Nick and Sam are exceedingly amusing with quick-witted humor, and other times their conversations are overflowing with compassionate concern. I became emotionally involved in the lives of these two when they are first met, and every additional fact about them only made my connection more powerful. There are some issues they must both deal with before their relationship can become a lasting one, and any struggles are clearly portrayed with careful examination of generally undeclared beliefs. Being privy to their inner way of thinking let me come to understand the driving force behind many carried out actions, and these stirring descriptions frequently touched my own feelings. The sexual awareness between Nick and Sam is sky-high, and this causes some scenes to be packed with tension while any intimate encounters are blazing with steamy heat and heartfelt emotions. A number of other characters are particularly distinctive, and the moments when Sam's partner, Freddie Cruz, is featured show his sharp mind with innumerable witty comebacks. As each mystery unfolds, the suspense mounts concerning who is behind the killing, and my own imagination continuously took various paths as new details about the possible suspects came to light. Ms. Force has created an outstanding story where the truth is masterfully divulged after more than a few unforeseen twists. FATAL AFFAIR engages the mind with rivetingly suspenseful mysteries while your heart is grabbed by the intense emotions.
Felicity Munroe was great with the delivery of the story. I can't wait ti read the rest of the series.
The main character has a one night stand years and years ago, meets the guy and has a sudden overly obsessive school girl crush on him that she can't do her job of solving a murder. Yet we are suppose to believe that she is a strong capable police sergeant. The story lost me because this woman's and man's adolescent relationship is so absolutely school-yard, surgary-sweet and unbelievable.
Real Estate Agent, enjoys reading/listening to true crime, suspense, some romance as well as books with inspiration.
First time reading Marie Force and i like her style. Will check out her next book.
Get this book and you'll see.
I loved the interaction between Nick & Sam. Marie does an excellent job of bringing the reader into their lives.
I am reading the entire series - I am currently on book three
Yes she is an excellent narrator
The book is a love story - mystery - crime novel all in one. I think my favorite part was the interactions between Nick & Sam.
Never saw the print version.
Perhaps a Nora Roberts novel.
When Nick and Sam first met.
It is hard to say.
