Sassy dialogue, humor, and a great reader are important to me.
I own hundreds to be listened to and could not afford to waste any more of my listening time
This had a good summery and even has more stories for a series, ie j.d. Robb. However, turned off by this reader!
This reader Ruined a good story! Gads, doesn't the production engineer review after First 30 min? This reader must have walked into the recording studio without ever reviewing the book at all. Her voice was so sqweekey she made our hero so dull! Why would I even bother to review the rest of the series?
Unfortunately, I did not listen to this book when I first purchased, and now suck with a book I had to stop listening to after 40 mins into story.
The narrator's voice breathed life into a bunch of somewhat flat characters. She gave them such emotional range and personality that they were interesting.
No. I did not realize that the genre of this book is erotic crime fiction Everyone was so aroused by so many of the other characters that I felt it detracted from the main plot. The plot was not all that densely woven and the big reveal at the end felt forced. It was hard to suspend disbelief.
Munroe went beyond the text to give the characters more depth than the author did. She must be a gifted actress. There's a lot of dialogue in this book, and Munroe made it feel like you were listening to a radio play.
An erotic thriller with all the traditional roles and body parts.
I believe the first book was offered in one of the discount campaigns and it's been sitting in my library for months. I love episodic cozy mysteries and this one was perfect. The Washington, DC backdrop, smart characters with interesting careers and the family relations made it very interesting, the suspenseful murders and sizzling (but not too explicit) romance made the rest of the series a must to purchase.
No, this one was so boring that I feel it would be a waste of time not to mention credit.
I have a few books on my wish list, maybe "Target" by Baldacci
Dull; Toneless; Sedative
Not for me. I'm sure it had some good moments but they were lost in the overall story.
I should have known I was not going to like this book when it opened with "by brilliance audio and harlequin". Too much romance, not enough drama. I couldn't get past the first couple of chapters. It did not mention anything about this when I read the review before buying.
The characters were good. The murder mystery had good twists and turns. There was plenty of story and it wasn't overtaken by romance.
The bomb and who did it.
I wouldn't seek her out but I wouldn't avoid a book because she narrated. She did well differentiating the voices.
Yes. It had twists and turns.
Totally addicted to Audible.
Even if this author could write as well as JD Robb, this narrator cannot come close to Susan Ericksen. So even with the main character being a cop who gets her car blown up, falls for the hunk cleared of the crime, and has a partner who is always hungry, this series is just a pale comparison of Eve Dallas and In Death.
The book was pretty good. I was looking for a series that could be comparable to the In Death series as I wanted to stay with strong female lead characters. I enjoyed the story but feel like something was missing....like some characters could have been a little more developed. Of course I really couldn't get in to it like I wanted to because I didn't feel the narrator did any of the characters justice.
The voices seemed weak, almost childlike at times and I didn't think it was a good presentation for a strong female character like Sam.
Nurse, mom, loved to read....but now I love to listen. When I retire I hope to hear waves crashing in 1 ear and audible in the other!
This book was ok, there are much better out there. Buy this on sale or for once in a blue moon. The narrator was just ok and to me that's 75% of what makes the book. The story line was pretty good and the sex was ok but few and far between. The main characters were likable but the narrator just did not do them justice.
I had not read the print version first but will now go back to read it so that I can better enjoy this book. I believe that the author wrote a significantly stronger book that the one that I heard.
I listened to this book while on vacation and, with better narration, would almost certainly have devoured it in a weekend!
