This book is simply amazing. Just give it a listen and I'm sure you'll agree. Louis has a way of describing people, landscapes and how they relate and challenge each other. You won't be disappointed
Love David Strathairn's performance in reading this, one of the greatest, if not THE GREATEST, of L'Amour's novels. Superb all the way around!!!!
This is, by far, my absolute favorite book. And the act of choosing David Strathairn to narrate was perfect. This would be such a good movie if they wanted to make it.
I might try another L'Amour book since I have not heard enough to decide if I appreciate his writing or not. I was not overly impressed with this book however. For me, the main character was a little hard to see as realistic. L'Amour, at least in this book, tended to use a lot of repetitious phrases and statements. I did not care for Strathairn's narration. It felt as if someone was just reading the book out loud rather than narrating it with any life.
If you can get it on a Daily Deal it is probably worth it. I would not use a credit to obtain this book.
The story is one of my favorites so I picked it for my first audible book and I wasn't disappointed, I heard more of the story this way instead of reading because you don't skip over anything. Narrator excellent smooth voice with different tones and accents for characters.
No this was the first
This is second time, great for a hot Texas summer listen. Siberian cold survival is great contrast.
Brules. Wilderness survival
