I've been a Jack Reacher fan since the first one. Lee Child, once again, kept me eager to keep reading and reading. Very exciting!
The first fight, The two "Huskers" took a beat down in the parking lot.
Yes and its great!
Good story - Love the Jack Reacher character
There were way too many times where the minute details could have been shortened and not taken away from the book at all. Too detailed descriptions in most of the book.
Maybe the narrator of the James Patterson book Kill Alex Cross
Yes because the story was good.
This is one of the better Reacher stories. I had a few laughs from Reacher’s macho talk. The ending was excellent. I don’t want to be redundant, but for newcomers I’ll repeat a few things I’ve said in other reviews. Reacher is like a comic book super hero. You need to suspend disbelief. He has no luggage. He buys new cheap clothes about every three days and throws away his dirty clothes. He lives in motels, eats in cheap diners, and usually travels by bus or hitchhiking. I enjoy hanging out with him even when I give the story a lower rating.
The narrator Dick Hill was very good.
Reacher wanders into a town held hostage by some bad old boys and cleans it up, freeing the people from oppression, especially the ladies. Along the way he barehandedly humiliates a palace guard of 300-pound former fooofballers and viciously murders about a dozen leading citizens and gangsters without having to answer for it. I can say all this because there is really no suspense in a Reacher novel; you know whatever the dire circumstances he must triumph in order to appear in the next book, and it usually doesn't take him long. This one is a lot less credible and likeable than The Affair, but it sure keeps you turning those pages.
Daughter of the King
Of course this book is well written, and Dick Hill did just the BEST job reading it, but I have a problem with what happens in the book. As often is the case, Reacher is the target of some evil people, due to his being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Usually his way of getting out of it is to kill the bad guys, but usually it's when he's about to be killed himself, i.e. self-defense. But without giving away the book, what bothered me was, at the time he got rid of the evil parties, they were awakened from sleep, were running away, and he murders them, and encourages another innocent to murder another. I can't abide by that. If they were gunning for him and the others at the time, no problem. But this was revenge murder. Didn't like that at all.
Sorry Mr. Child, that part of the book was not to my liking.
If you like Lee Child's Jack Reacher, you won't be disappointed. If you don't know Jack Reacher, now is a good time to introduce yourself to him. Entertaining listen.
Jack gets more bad-ass with every book. I really enjoyed this book. Some people don't like Dick Hill's reading but I think it fits the book and character perfectly.
no plot, no character development, boring
beating someone up, killing, beating someone up, killing, beating someone up, killing, beating someone up, killing,
rinse lather repeat
One of the more simplistic, predictable, and tedious novels I have ever listened to. It put me to sleep on more than one occasion - in the middle of day !
Not worthy of the Reacher franchise.
