As a big fan of Vince Flynn I was disappoined with the American assassin.
It was an attempt to give some insight into Mitch Rapp and how it all began for him but it didn't work, it was a good idea gone bad. Too many endless, boring, conversations between secondary characters and too little of the white knuckle action that makes Flynn's books so hard to put down. I look forward to Flynn getting back to the stuff that makes him one of my favorite authors.
I listened to just the first part of this book and quit after about an hour into it. To much profanity for my liking.
I live in a small town. I love Suspense Thrillers, CIA type books, Detective Books. I sometimes listen to some books based on true facts.
I like this character. I am glad I got this book , This tells how Mitch came to be.
I found this boring, with cliche characters and plot, no real suspense, and too much violence - Mitch Rapp just loves killing and shows no remorse. He's a one-dimensional character. I'm sure Vince Flynn wanted to show how he became an assassin, since this deals with him as a young man getting into the business, but I still found the glorification of killing horrifying. The torture scenes were gruesome. The plot was confusing, with various political factions fighting and no real explanation of their differences. Most of the characters sounded the same. I read Act of Treason first and thought it was much better. Lee Child's Jack Reacher is a more interesting character than Mitch Rapp.
Such a great idea, going back to how it all began, explaining how Mitch Rapp came to be. I'm a huge Vince Flynn/Mitch Rapp fan and thoroughly enjoyed this book. George Guidall does a wonderful job of narrating, as usual. My only complaint is Flynn can't publish the next volume fast enough for my desires.
Something about yourself.
Having read or listened to all af the Mitch Rapp books this is another class act by Vince Flynn. This book proves Mitch had it before we knew what it was. Fantastic author. Highly recommeded. What can one add? If it was a foot race this book would be the winner.
This book was so poor; actually boring is the word that comes to mind. The characters are clumsily constructed and unrealistic. I want my money back!
The Mitch Rapp series came highly recommended from a friend so I started here. This was my first Flynn book and have now just downloaded my third. I cant seem to get enough of Mitch Rapp and his pull no punches attitude toward ridding this world of terrorists threats and anyone who gets in his way trying to do so.. These books are nothing more than good fun and a great way to spend my 60 minute commute.
