One of the best audiobook autobiographies I've listened to. Mr. Caine tells some fantastic stories and is incredibly down to earth.
I so enjoyed this, I loved all the stories about his time in Hollywood and who he met. And I loved the way he laughed at his own jokes. This book cheered me up no end and I could not stop listening to it.
"Brilliant Audio Entertainment!"
I've read the book version of this story (as well as the earlier "what's It All About?" and put them but near the top of my favourite autobiographies. The Audio Book version was just as enjoyable and many hours in the car were transformed from the usual monotony of traffic into hours of entertainment. Fantastic.... Right up there with David Niven!
"Excellent Heartfelt Story"
Absolutely. It is a fascinating tale well told. The insight into Hollywood as well as Caine's life is most enjoyable.
Michael Caine has a low key, dry storytelling voice that is very appealing once you get used to it. The book is very personal and would lose something if it was not told by its author.
"A true legend"
Michael Caine treats us to a rare insight into his unlikely story. A very enjoyable listen, his wealth of stories and anecdotes of people in the business is sometimes touching, sometimes moving and very laugh out loud funny. He is a true icon even if his wife does make him take the rubbish out!
"Interesting and a very enjoyable listen"
The narration and some fantastic anecdotes about the film industry from a national treasure
It's probably fairly unique as an acting autobiography as it spans the wide gap between the old Hollywood and gritty British film industry.
Narrated by Michael himself his fabulous tone and chatty manner made it like listening to an interesting and wise old friend
Yes some parts were so interesting I had to wait Til that part was finished before pausing but was also nice to go back to it although trying to retrospectively remember all the history of which film he did and when was sometimes tricky as he went through them quite fast in places.
Though much name dropping as expected some of the 'lovey' admiration got a bit predictable, would have been great if he could have just honestly said if he wasn't keen on another actor or if he didn't like working with them and maybe expanded on how he rebuilt his relationship with his first daughter.
"Great insight and story teller"
I really enjoyed this auto biography. Michael Caine offers a real insight into his career and includes lots of personal views and comments. An excellent book.
"Great listen even for non Michael Caine fans"
This is a really honest account of the life of Michael Caine, Michael reads this himself and it is a good account of his life. It also is good that some of the parts even make him laugh as he is reading it
When he was describing the birth of his daughter
"excellent story, not so good a delivery"
good tale of his early years
Wasn't the best narration, sometimes mumbled and hard to hear
couldn't possibly, voice too monotonous
"stick to acting michael"
written by maybe narated by no
his punctuation was as if he had never read it before
i took it on holiday for easy listening i am a retired painter and decorator and my grammar is certainly not perfect but listening to this faltering narration was painful and irritating i like michael caine and i think he is a great raconteur but he should stick to casual ad libbing,
