the first parts of the book started off a little hard for me bec it seemed like this was just another East Coast wise guy sharing his rambunctious youth with us.
BUT his growth as a person was really impressive and is worth hearing.
his narration sounded just like a live performance with impressions and (I assume) ad libbed lines.
overall, good book.
Yes, fun listen. Jim Breuer is so animated and entertaining.
His struggle to the top
Need more like this
Jim's story telling style
Not taco bell materiel
Jim's stories about his dad
Each time jim came too a crossroad in his life, maybe a "higher power" was looking over his shoulder too help him out.
I really enjoyed this book. I spent 2 days listening to this book, non-stop. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.
Commuter with lots of time to listen to audiobooks to keep from road ragin'. Not that I would ever endorse or have been guilty of road rage.
Breuer crushes it (a word he uses a lot)!!!! I enjoyed listening to Jim act out the voices of people in the book. Listening to him narrate was like having him in the passenger seat of my car during the long commute. He fiddles with aspect of enlightenment/chance of certain instances in his life that made him think about the beyond the supreme being.
As a comedian his voice is great and would definitely try another book from jimmy breuer.
Whenever I listen to a biography or memoir, I supplement other videos, music to put into perspective what the author or person went through at that moment. However, Breuer being a comedian that he is, used some of the material in the book in previous comedy clubs.
I tried saving the book for my commutes but had to force myself to stop listening at home because then I wouldn't have anything to listen to in the car.
Listening to Bruer impersonate Dave Chapelle and Tracy Morgan was worth the price alone, but the performance of this book is also great. Jim Bruer is a decent man, a great stand-up and a wonderful storyteller. Two thumbs up.
I got halfway through the book when I saw the audiobook and boy let me tell you I am happy with both. Someone mentioned that the book was good but the audiobook version was even better and they were right. Jim Breuer adds so much to the telling of his story, not just by reading only the way he can, but by his rambling into extra stories throughout. This book was truly touching and funny. Jim Breuer seems like a real down to earth guy that I would really like to hang out with.
I LOVED this audio book! Reading the actual book wouldn't have been as terrific, Jim Breuer's imitations of Chris Rock, Norm MacDonald, Tracy Morgan, his mother and his father, among others, was an absolute treat. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!
