The book summed itself up best... Knowing that the principles are common sense doesn't mean we act common sensibly. The body of work complied a host of psychological studies that framed the way we can get the most from ourselves and those around us. And be happier people in the end. I enjoyed it and felt great passing it forward. The workplace would be better if practiced the principles.
Well written, full of specific advice, useful information and relevant study results. Quite possibly the most useful biik I have ever read!
Shawn is such a dynamic and entertaining speaker. I was very disappointed that this audio book did not allow that to shine through. He reads the words eithout any humorous inflection during parts of the book that would otherwise be funny. This leads to a very dry presentation that is harder to get through than it should be.
This book is amazing. It is filled with empirical scientific data, but also very basic break downs and easy to understand examples. This is definitely a book that I will listen to again!
Great application of positive psychology in organizations and for the individual. I highly recommend listening if your interested in improving yours or your organization's performance.
I recently started listening to audio books on my 40 minute drive to work. This has been the best so far. Engaging, interesting, informative, and containing a number of laugh-out-loud moments, I enjoyed it start to finish.
Shawn teaches us such important life lessons here, and he does so with great anecdotes, examples, and significant research.
Went into a little panic every time I thought it was the last chapter! I was actually a little bit relieved when I hit a traffic jam and was able to listen for a little bit longer.
The only thing I would suggest when you listen to this book (like all audio books I guess) is to make notes of the key points - in this case, the seven principles... Because listening rather than reading makes it harder to pick them out and remember them. Each principle is described in great detail, and I imagine it's much easier to flick through and recall them in a printed book... So keep your notebook handy!
Loved it... And now feeling a sense of loss that Shawn is not keeping me company on my long daily journey!
