My heart always aches upon hearing of cruelity. Mr. Sparks describes, in great detail, the plight of a battered woman. This upsetting senerio is softened by the happy (if somewhat unbelievable) ending. Just makes the reader hope the outcome is not the exception but the rule - which is doubtful. I enjoyed this book but would not recommend it, I believe there are much better stories available.

Once again, Sparks has the uncanny ability to weave a tale that sucks you right in & shoots you toward an ending you didn't expect. The concepts are well paced so you have time to digest the emotions. The narrator does an excellent job with voice. Great story, great performance.

Pretty good listen, quite captivating. A little confusing at the end and a little disappointing in how the end unfolds, maybe the movie version can fix it.

This book will have all of your emotions working but it is well worth it! I picked it because it takes place in Southport where I have visited but ended up loving every word.

A romantic story as only Nicholas Sparks can weave with tears, love, laughter and twists you just don’t see coming.

The only other Nicholas Sparks book I've read is Message in a Bottle and I hated the ending. This book didn't have the horrible ending that one did. It was a little predictable, but a good listen.

This was one of those books I couldn't stop listening to. I looked forward to getting in the car to hear what would happen next. I also started taking my iphone when I walked the dog just to hear more. The narrarator was great and the book had a nice twist at the end.

And I loved it. Rebecca Lowman was perfect as narrator. I could immerse myself in her world. Great character development and plot. Would recommend.

Loved it! Great easy listening. The story gave me good chills and I wanted to continue listening every minute.
