I enjoy listening to fiction, mostly medical/police thrillers & Christian Self-help. I am 50+, married, step-mom to 5, NaNa to 5, sister, daughter, aunt, & friend to many. I am a born-again, Spirit-filled praying & worshipping warrior of the one & only true & living God.
This book is great and can be used alone or with The Battlefield of the Mind and Change Your Words, Change Your Life.
I would not recommend this book as an audible book because of the narrator's horribly nasal voice and obnoxious accent. Her voice made the book intolerable. Using a narrator with a very strong accent taints the message.
I was unable to listen to it because the narrator was too awful.
Anyone with out a strong, nasal northern accent.
not movie material
The content was good but the nasally voice of the narrator was difficult to listen to. I had been told this was a good book to read. Since I don't have time to read the book, I thought I would purchase the audio book. I find it difficult to listen to the narrator for longer than 30 minutes.
This is the best book Joyce Meyer has written to date. She lays out a progressive plan for improving your thinking, getting rid of bad habits and improving your enjoyment of life. Each Power Thought is described in detail with Biblical references to back up the ideas she presents. She does an excellent job of using research material from experts in neurosciences and psychology to reinforce the process of improving our thinking and changing our lives by changing our way of thinking. Very good book for people who live in depression, fear, or who just want to improve their outlook on life in general. Everyone can benefit from at least some of the truths presented in this book.
I wish I had know that there was a religious aspect before I purchased this audio book. I didn't listen past the first 5 minutes.
Although sometimes the references to verses in the Bible disturbed my thoughts on what she was telling, at the end I was ready to listen to it again.
I was not prepared for the Christian, god vs evil philosophy that consumed each chapter.
The message was good, but the religious references and constant overture of the bible the jesus christ was too much for me.
I AM a Christian, but suggest avoiding this one unless you believe that Satan exists as the enemy you need to overcome with God's help in order to achieve your goals.
If I wanted to read the bible, I would. There is a hidden agenda here and that would be fine if the author was upfront about her intent, but there are many more books that do a better job without using the bible as a foundation. Plus the information is superficial and lacks any real insight. Best avoided.
I am highly disappointed with this book and deceived by the other reviews and ratings as well. I do not like books which base its ideas and principals on religious grounds whether its Christianity or any other religion for this matter ( except Buddhism, i guess ). If you share me the same opinion , do not buy this book. If you are more into such type of books ( and want to be a more religious person ), go ahead and enjoy !
