If you saw the Movie, Waiting to Exhale, then you can follow along with this new story line. It was Great and I can't wait to see the Movie. Read and pass on to someone who travels a lot, they will love it
This was a GREAT READ... Loved it.. it was like catching up with old friends for real. It was not what I expected but it was GREAT..
I have read books by terry before and they didn't all meet up to what i had expected but i was surprised at this one. I acutually listen twice. It was very good. I cold relate to what the women were going through and even knew some that were having the same troubles. It inspired me to dig deeper into what makes me happy and go after it. I thought i was, but after reading this, i don't think so. Thank you Terry for writing such an inspirational book. I know that a lot came from within you, sometimes it's hard to tell what you're going through. To reveal what hurts, that is when the healing starts. Again, thanks Terry for this inspiring book. I LOVED IT!!
i enjoyed the movie waiting to exhale, but this story is so depressing. if you are already depressed, sad, upset whatever, don't listen to this one, it'll only make it worse. not what i expected but not going to waste a credit. also, terry's voice is NOT the stuff. oh well!!!
I simply enjoyed listening to this book.
I would highly recommend. i was not disappointed for one second.
I loved Waiting to Exhale. I am blind so I checked it out of the library for the blind. I don't remember the name of the narator but she was good and breathed a lot of life into my girls. I read that book almost as much as I watched the movie I liked it so much. I think I was in my late 20's then and had gone through similar things as all four of the women minus the heart attack. So when I accidentally came across this title I bought instead of waiting for my credits. I've been reading this book for about two weeks now and am finally near the end. I'm sorry but I agree with everyone else about the reader and Bernadine's part isn't much better. Borrow it if you just have to read it but in my humble opinion, it doesn't measure up to the first and I honestly think I wouldn't have missed much if this sequel hadn't been published. JMHO. A side note, Robin's reader was excellent and I think her character development was on the money. The portrayal of being a single mother who is not exactly a spring chicken but is still young at heart while her body says something altogether diferent was again, rigt on the money. I also liked the way the relationship with Robin and Sparrow was described. Being a single mom of teenage daughters, it is so easy to forget where motherhood and friendship shouldn't cross.
This book was great. I am sad to say that i was getting to a point where i was no longer excited by audio books and this book has jump started me again. After reading all of micheal connelly's books on harry bousch i couldn't find books that made me want to stay in the car after getting home to finish the chapter. But terry mcMillian did her thing and i am hooked. i feel like these women are a part of my family. Thank you terry.
I remember reading "Waiting to Exhale" years ago, and I really liked the book. I enjoyed "How Stella got her Groove Back", too. This book, however, was just too tired and slow. And the narrators - what a disappointment! These women are actors, but they just couldn't do justice to the book either. Terry McMillan's narration was the worst - her character just sounded like a tired, old hag. Wish I hadn't used a credit for this!
I used a credit on this book simply because it was Terry McMillan. I loved all her books. I too could not get much past the narration. There were too many different people and constant, "She said/Bernadette said/Gloria said/ Savannah said" I could not keep track. Terry's voice was too fast and there were no differentiations in the character voices. I would have preferred this book in hard copy, but now I am just disappointed. The story was alright, but nothing to brag about. A bit disappointed. My rating is average or a bit below. Not the typical "Terry" style where you cannot stop listening.
Yes, story was very good.
Savannah, she was the character I most understood.
The readers were not professional. Read too fast, without inflection.
