Not only was this an easy read (listen), but the author keeps his listeners engaged with characters throughout the books. That is the mark of a true fictionist!
Loved this book! What an imagination Sanderson has. It had me from the very first and I loved the character development. An entire world was so vividly created that I could see it unfolding and connecting before me. Great intricate characters. Storm Father, it was so much fun. Cannot wait to start book two.
The two readers did a great job. Their voices conjured up individual mental descriptions of each which just reinforced the imagery. Amazing!!!
It's an intricate story, with many seemingly unrelated side stories, that eventually started coming together. About half-way through I started listening at every opportunity to see how things would turn out.
Yes, definitely. The story became very compelling as I tried to fit everything together.
Yes. Kate is an excellent narrator and uses many distinct voices and accents to bring characters to life. Michael has a low, deep, somewhat monotone presentation but I became accustomed to it found it generally pleasing.
Epic tale of men fighting against selfishness to bring honor back to the world.
I recommend the book and I couldn't wait to read the next one, however it felt like it would take forever to get interesting and to make sense. Once it finally did, I couldn't stop listening. It was kind of like going through nine months of pregnancy but finally being rewarded with a wonderful child. I'd rate the book PG-13 due to non-graphic war violence, but clean language and no sex.
this is written in the same way Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series is. and very much the same style.
Simply stunning fantasy! Great narration (esp. Kramer's interpretation of Kaladin). I would write more but I just moved on to the second novel...
