What a great story of struggling and overcoming even the darkest of trials by reaching outside of yourself to help others. Kaladin's sense of duty and responsibility is admirable, and his perseverance to gain the trust of the lowliest of men through example and love is an example worthy of emulation. For a fictional high fantasy novel I found it affected me in a profound way, and that is not even getting to the sheer awesomeness that is Shardplate and blades, surges and stormlight, politics and intrigue, honor among princes and slaves. This is my all-time favorite novel and I look forward anxiously to the rest of the story.
great story! very excited to start the next book.
that being said the beginning is rather slow and the two readers pronounced a few characters names differently near the end of the book. still highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys Tolkien, Rothfuss or other fantasy stories.
Brandon Sanderson strikes again! The Way of Kings may easily be the greatest fantasy novel I have ever had the pleasure to partake of. Full of mystery, and excitement: The Way of Kings will sweep you away to a fantastic world.
As my first Sanderson book I was not sure what to expect. At the beginning I was very cautious and a bit cynical and then out of nowhere this story had me hooked. The story is imaginative and the characters memorable. Each chapter left me wanting to listen to more. Sanderson delivers a brilliant story and I cannot wait to see what the rest of the storm light archive has in store for its readers.
