From story line to narration, Sanderson, Reading, and Kramer have constructed a saga worthy of my highest praise. I listen to this one as much as my wife listens to Austen's "Pride and Prejudice." Essential reading for all fantasy buffs, with much to offer by way of philosophical and spiritual inspiration. I have been reborn a died in the wool, Stormlight Archive junkie!
Begging for more. It took a few minutes to really get into this book but once in I was hooked.
Can't wait for the next one. The character depth is immense.
Michael and Kate are the best narrators on this site, hands down.
I found this novel to be one of the best I've listened to a longtime. It deals with both magic science and wonder but I believe the most important thing is that it deals with nobility. I don't like to spend two credits on a book but this one is worth it. May the storm light infuses all. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. If you like being hooked in a book where you don't want to leave your car or you take the book into the house and spend hours listening to it this is the book for you.
I was drawn into it almost by the 1st chapter (just get through the prologue). I couldn't wait to get into my car to listen to it! I was so sorry it had to end but I heard its the 1st of TEN!!!!! There are a few main characters and every so many chapters the story switches to what's happening with each character. Its not at all distracting - its amazing. I'm sure at some point they must be intertwined - I'm excited for the series future. Worth every penny! (And if you are able - get the book too - the illustrations are great - I bought both!)
a little slow in the beginning with some character confusion.., but gradually takes you away to the world within the book. overall a great book.
I loved the audio book of The Way of Kings. Not only is the story fabulous, but the narration is wonderful as well. I enjoyed Reading and Kramer in the WOT series, and was glad to see them on this book as well. Usually in a book this long you start wishing for the end to come, as they are often filled with a bit too much "fluff". Not so in Way of Kings! I did NOT want this book to end. I wanted it to keep going! In fact, it was so good, that I kept mentioning to my husband that I really wanted to physically read his Mistborn and Way of Kings books (which he surprised me with for Valentines!!). I loved reading them just as much or more!! Brandon Sanderson is definitely in the top few others that I favor over the many that I like. He is an author that I will gladly follow for the duration of his career. He is only in his 30s, and is already this good...can't wait to see where he goes from here!!
WONDERFUL book, very enthralling and captivating, and the characters are wonderfully written and developed. Can't wait to see where this series goes...already longing for books 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 +++++ :)
Brandon Sanderson is a writing machine. If he keeps writing at the pace he has been we've got years of good books in this world to come.
The creativity of the author is amazing. Books like that, arts, music, etc, makes me believe in God. We, humans, are capable of grandiose things, such as this book. I couldn't stop listening, and I'm waiting anxiously for the next book. Great job Brandon. BTW, I loved Warbreaker, from the same author. Piece of art.
Brandon absolutely shines in this novel. It is so very seldom to get to delve so deeply into characters so that you feel like you are actually there. The way he tells his world's back story, too, is done with equal development and acumen.
The only disappointment is that we will probably have to wait a while for the next installment. Working on the final chapter of the Wheel of Time series, it will no doubt take him some time to get back to this. But it will be worth the wait, I have little doubt. I am looking as forward to the final book of the Wheel of Time as I am the second book in this series.
Is it possible that reading a book could be better than sex? With Brandon's books, I say that it could definitely be argued that it can be, and definitely in Brandon's case, it is!
Write faster, Mr. Sanderson! We want to snuggle up in our beds with you. There isn't anything like one of your books with us in our cozy beds!
I decided to listen to this book while waiting for book 5 of A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin and I'm glad I did. This is a very good story. I have two hours left in the book and I'm sad that book 2 won't be out until 2012. The characters are great. The world the book takes place in is amazing. I can't wait for the next book in this 10 part series. This is a really fantastic book if you're into this genre and I would highly recommend it.
