Just an all around awesome person.
I have read and loved all the southern vampire books. This book blatantly sucks and falls far from what I expected. Why did they not use Johanna Parker for the narration?
I am always on the look out for a story that will surprise me or make me laugh while telling a good tale
I had hoped for fun or funny stories - you know, stories like people like to tell about their VACATIONS!?! Most of these read more like being forced to sit and look at slides of someones boring or down right depressing vacation.
It has 2 or 3 redeeming short stories, but the rest are pure crap.
People who are just looking for a bunch of short stories.
I was looking for the next book on Sookie Stackhouse as I have read and enjoyed them so much and when you listen to the sample, that's what it sounds like (this time with the help of other authors (like Ms. Harris should really need them). Instead, I got one great story and bunch that I could care less about. It was really a disappointment. The worse part about it is that I bought the mistletoe book at the same time and can't return either. So I am stuck with one story I like and a bunch I don't. I am sure that Ms. Harris could have put all her short stories together, come up with a great read and NOT disappointed her readers in this way.
Everything past Sookie Stackhouse.
I don't think I could say more about how I was disappointed that I did in the 'What was the most disappointing' section of the questioner. I hope someone forwards these notes to Ms. Harris and that she actually cares about her readers.
Oh why oh why did they not use the original narrators!? This really made it hard for me to listen to. Don't get me wrong, I think Ronconi is amazing, but for me she's a Molly Harper narrator.
Eric sounds wrong in the Sookie Stackhouse story and don't get me started on Bones in the Night Huntress story.
The stories in it self are fine. But the narration really gets on my nerves.
Not really there r only one story in the book that I like and the rest it trash. Also one of the story is not really a story but it a story about some guy who work at this place that public book and he is one of the edditer. Who care I sure dont. The three star I give this book is for the night hunt novel in this book that is the only story that enjoyable.
I've always loved books. Even before I could read I've loved them. Fact or Fiction, I love books. I'd sooner read a book than see a movie.
Sure would. Even if they only read or know of one author in this book, it is a good was of finding more authors they may like.
I will always be a Charlaine Harris fan, so it has to be Pam. Huh, I bet you thought I was going to say Sookie.
Christopher did an excellent job on all the characters, and I cannot say that anyone stood out from the others.
More laughter than tears.
I like realistic books that stretch the truth and the laws of physics...and also emotionally resonant narration that doesn't suck.
Absolutely never will i buy another book narrated by Christopher Lane.
I love a good Charl. Harris book!
Christopher Lane is capable of changing her voice to be character appropriate, as she demonstrates with the voice of "Pam", so i can only guess that the voices she used for other characters, such as "Sookie", which sounded very close to her natural speaking voice, was a very unfortunate, but conscious choice. I am able to overlook and deal with narration mistakes and somewhat undesirable voices in narration most of the time, but this? I had to turn the book off less than five minutes in and buy it, again, in print, so i guess ruining an audio book this way is good for sales, at least in the short term! The narration sounded that bad; so nasal and high pitched! It was positively unnerving, and i just couldn't imagine immersing myself in the story with that constant annoyance. It was an almost child like voice that i could imagine saying something like, " nya nya na booh booh". The art of narration can't be overstated in terms of importance, and this person didn't seem to take the listener's ear, or the character acting very seriously, from what i heard in the beginning.
Eclectic, Oscar Worthy
Any Paranormal, cause the stories all revolve around paranormal creatures.
This man is Oscar Worthy! What a performer! He made the stories leap to life and get up and dance. Wow.
Great book of eclectic short stories. Vampires, Ghouls, Gargoyles, Succubus, and all things paranormal go on vacation. The story about the demon who liked to be a dog because his 'package' was bigger than when he was in man form made me howl with laughter.
A throughly enjoyable book.
Some of the stories were really good and others were just okay. Overall I gave this anthology 3 stars rather than 4 because the editing from story to story included less than a breath's space. I was so frustrated! The story would end and becasue of the nature of these stories and often an unexpected ending, I would have liked to have had a few seconds of silence before the next story. Instead it felt liek the next story started before the narrator of the last story even took a breath. It was very distracting and annoying.
