I liked the book quite a bit. You should read smash cut first. Shares the same characters. It is a romance but the story line is good. starts off slow but picks up to a good story.
Usually I can't wait to put on the headphones and hear what comes next. But I can't find myself caring what happens and I'm a third of the way through. First disappointing novel by Sandra Brown I've encountered and I've read almost all of her stuff.
I will listen to anything Victor Slezak narrates, but this was a weak plot from Sandra. I have all of her books on Audible (which I listen to over and over again), but not sure I'll listen to this a second time.
I really, really hate it when I waste a credit. I've tried twice to get into this story and characters, but it just isn't happening. Taking way too long to hook any interest and the narrator falls short, too. Maybe I shouldn't have listened to this one so soon after The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. Can I have my credit back?
This book didn't have the normal flare that I'm used to finding in Sandra Brown novels. I don't consider it a waste of a credit, but it seemed to ramble on and on in places without holding my interest. I like the fact that it is a sequel to Smash Cut and we are able to catch up with some of those characters, as well as get to hear Dodge's story, but I just couldn't warm up to the story as a whole.
The narration wasn't great either, which did not help matters.
The narrator did an excellent job bringing to life this complex story of human emotion and intrigue. I appreciated the read. Kept me in the edge of my seat.
The story needs to pop! I have listened to many other Sandra Brown books that have been read by Victor Slezak and this one just doesn't get it. The story line is boring and does not captivate me as her others have done.
Since, I didn't finish it, I cannot give a fair opinion.
I love Victor Slezak!! I think it was just the story line that made it such a bummer.
Great suspense with a dash of romance novel. Dodge Henley's true love and the one who got away, Caroline asks for his help after a 30 year absence. Dodge now starts to develop a relationship with the daughter he has not seen since her birth. Throw in a whack job stalker determined to murder Dodge's daughter Berry, and Dodge's vow to protect the love of his life and his daughter makes for quite a thrilling and suspenseful novel.
I have had this book for 2 years, and just now decided to listen. -- I read all the reviews and they were not very good.
Now I do not know why, it is a great book -- just like Sandra Brown.
the going back and forth to the past to tell part of the story is a trademark for her. I really liked this book, and wonder why it took me so long ..
on a side note, Envy by Sandra Brown is one of my all time favorites, this is almost as good.
