The readings and the background music / sound effects give the added pleasure of feeling like you were there. I love listening to the bible and some of these narrators are extremely gifted.
Absolutely!! Due to my vision issues it enriches my devotion time.
Jesus, of course because He died for me. Ruth is my second because she was a woman of character.
Yes but this brings the living Word to life as if you are right there. Great actors were chosen.
The only problem is that if you don't know where a specific scripture is you have to find it the best you can.
I would recommend this book to anyone that wanted to read the bible, but has never gotten to it. Listening is very easy, and feels like your listening to a movie.
NO - any dramatized version is subject to the particular preferences of the listener & for me it seemed 'put on' and didn't flow as natural 'storytelling' or conversation might. It is JUST a personal opinion though - you may love it.
see above - 'god' was a bit dodgy!
I am now back at Audible seeking a different version - preferably one where I can select by the book - rather than a track that may have any number of books in it.
If you have ever wanted to read the whole Holy Bible but had a hard time, then listen to the Bible on audio.
You can also add these audio books to itunes, then put them on your ipod. It is an excellent way to listen to the word of GOD and work out at the same time.
All of it .
David when he was young fighting Goliath and being victorious.
The story and life of the prophet Elijah.
When Jesus is tortured and died by crucifixtion for our sins and was raised again the 3rd day.
The way that this Bible is read will keep your attention. It is brought to life the way they read it.
Reader of Books
Yes. First off it's God's Word. So it should be a part of everyone's library. Second, I've listened to several different audio versions and this is the best hands down. Even though the translation chosen isn't the best (NKJV) the performance is so good it overcomes that issue.
Richard Dreyfuss as Moses is worth it right there.
the Bible is a book that was written to be read aloud, it is best to be heard in audio format.
Nope, that covers it.
I like the way it is has added dramatization with music and sounds to accompany the Word.
I like them all but I think the narrarator is my favorite.
There are lots of moving moments in the Word.
The dramatization may not be for everyone, some may find it a bit distacting.
Tell us about yourself!
Absolutely yes! It's not the kind of audio to look up some specific passage in the Bible or to study the Bible. However, it's extraordinary! I've always wanted to get into the habit of reading a little bit of the Bible every day, but with so much school work, there are days that i just want to close my eyes coz they are tired. Not anymore! I listen to it every day, and if I find something I'd like to meditate on I just take notes and go back on my print Bible.
The music, the narration, the different narrators make the whole thing just realistic...it feels as if it's a story...it's so pleasant to hear....I won't tire of saying it's awesome!
Yes I would listen again.
I haven't finished the recording yet but I want to let all potential listeners know the recording is fantastic. I like the narration and the sound effects add to my enjoyment. I can't sit still and read it but listening while I clean house and do dishes or even pulling weeds I think I can get it finished by Easter. Some of the words have been changed from what I read in my bible but that's ok. It's basically the same idea and it's fun to see what I remember from the first time I read it.
If you are like me and just never had the patients to read the Bible cover to cover but the desire to, then this is the answer. I listen to it while comuting, and I love it! I am only on Part 5 which is Kings. But I have learned so much! True that it is not a bible for studying and referencing, but still a very good version of the Bible to have in your library.
