Audiobooks are my drug of choice
I've never been disappointed by this series and this book was no exception. I found myself laughing out loud several times. I just love Lula's attitude! I hope Janet Evanovich continues these books, I would miss them very much if they stopped. Team Ranger all the way!
The performance reading of this book was great. Characters were done extremely well and with a lot of personality. The story, however, was quite ridiculous and made it difficult to listen to this book in its entirety.
I am probably in the minority but here goes. I am starting to think that Ms Plum and her antics are predictable and tedious. I mean, this is a grown woman and she can't decide between two men in her life. She endangers her grandmother's life on a regular basis and she is just immature! The reason I gave this book 3 out of 5 is we weren't subjected to her ever changing mind switches between the two handsome men. There were a few times when she had enteractions with them but it wasn't as sappy as other books and I liked that for the most part, she was an independent' woman. High time, too, I mean, what is she? Twenty-seven and not from an affluent family. I laughed a lot and shook my head at other times but it was a book that I enjoyed for the 5 plus hours of listening.
I would add more tension to the mystery.
In this book, Ranger.
Lorelei's voices are very distinctive, but she and the stories are feeling a little tired.
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.
Honestly, The story arc is the same. Stephanie torn between two guys, no decision made. Entirely too much Lulah, in fact I didn't finish the book because I just couldn't handle Lulah.
The first books were good because of the novelty, but nothing has changed, Stephanie hasn't grown, is still doing the same idiotic things. IF I was Ranger I'd dump her, she is too wishy washy and immature.
Needs more light
I really love the Stephanie Plum books. She reminds me of an everyday person you would meet in real life. I enjoy the caharacters Stephanie hangs out with and for some reason she always seems to get the job done however messy it is to get there. I love the interaction between the characters in these books.
This is one of the best by far! The many characters and plot lines that come together in the end make this a very fun, if slightly absurd, book. You always know who is speaking because of King's excellent vocal characterizations. I have found that many age groups (late teens through 70s) can take an interest in SIZZLIN SIXTEEN because it includes several themes with which the listeners may relate. I thought the Hobbit theme was woven into the story to make it a really fun ride! The serious things that occur are offset by absurd happenings courtesy of such eccentric characters as Mooner and his Middle Earth cohort. I could imagine this book being made into a movie because it offers the opportunity for comedic scenes on scales both small and epic larger-than-life. There might be Stephanie Plum fans who do not like this one. But I ride around in an aging Honda Civic with a Rangeman magnetic sticker on the back of it so when I come out of work everyday, and see the sticker, I will smile. Sometimes, when I see it, I laugh out loud, as some of the extremely funny and wacky moments spring to mind from Evanovich's various novels. This is definitely one of her wackiest, yet it still makes you worry about how everything will get resolved and it still inspires the listener's concern for Stephanie's well-being. Great for a road trip!
I've listened to every book, including all 16 in this series, from Janet Evanovich. Lorelei King did a fabulous job, again. No one else can read the characters as Lorelei does; just stop the series if she couldn't read anymore.
Sizzling Sixteen is a great comeback from the 15th book in the series. Janet brought great mystery with their personal business in the story - intrigue and suspence mixed with a little humor blended into another fantastic Stephanie Plum adventure. This bounty hunter promisses not to dissapoint. I had a smile on my face and giggled from beginning to end.
The Sisters Review
No surprises in this book... Stephanie is surrounded by wacky characters carrying guns, some of the gun toters are friends and some are bad guys.
All of the Stephanie Plum novels are intricately woven in details but still are entertaining and an easy listen.
I highly recommend the Stephani Plum Series I am a true fan of this comedic mystery series and fully intend on attending a book signing next year!!
