This book is entirely implausible. The story line is crazy, the characters are nuts and the entire thing is thoroughly and unequivocally one of Janet Evanovich's funniest books involving Stephanie Plum. From Lula’s “just one” diet to Grandma Mazur’s broken foot and Mooner’s Hobbit Con, I thought I was going to laugh myself silly. I love the way Lorelei King brings the characters to life. My only complaint is that it ended too soon.
Has anyone ever listened to CJ Critt narrate these? The audiobooks (tapes) I rented from my library were read by her. After the 7th they used Loreli. I have had a hard time adjusting to the different narrator. Anyone else experience this?
Another funny installment to the series. Stephanie is giving signals that she is tired of being a bounty hunter. I wonder if that will go anywhere in future novels. I wonder if future novels will go anywhere. Other than the little mystery, there is not much going on - no character growth, nothing is resolved in Stephanie's personal life, etc.
SPOILER ALERT!!! She almost has sex with Ranger, but then doesn't. She's fighting with Morelli again.
Its really just same old same old and it was really kind of short.
Weak plot, weak characterization, this tome is even missing the sexual pull between Stephanie and Ranger / Stephanie and Joe. Janet it may be time to hang up Plum's gun.
Once again Stephanie and Lulu manage to get themselves in more trouble than a box of puppies. Stephanie manages to keep her love-life hot. Some of the scenes are so absurd they made us laugh out loud. I 'm looking forward to 17,18, 19 and 20...
Audiobooks are my drug of choice
I've never been disappointed by this series and this book was no exception. I found myself laughing out loud several times. I just love Lula's attitude! I hope Janet Evanovich continues these books, I would miss them very much if they stopped. Team Ranger all the way!
The performance reading of this book was great. Characters were done extremely well and with a lot of personality. The story, however, was quite ridiculous and made it difficult to listen to this book in its entirety.
I am probably in the minority but here goes. I am starting to think that Ms Plum and her antics are predictable and tedious. I mean, this is a grown woman and she can't decide between two men in her life. She endangers her grandmother's life on a regular basis and she is just immature! The reason I gave this book 3 out of 5 is we weren't subjected to her ever changing mind switches between the two handsome men. There were a few times when she had enteractions with them but it wasn't as sappy as other books and I liked that for the most part, she was an independent' woman. High time, too, I mean, what is she? Twenty-seven and not from an affluent family. I laughed a lot and shook my head at other times but it was a book that I enjoyed for the 5 plus hours of listening.
