Author of The Hunt Chronicles. jddemers com
I thought the first book was great but it did lack one thing with it's style, and that was suspense.
Not so in this one. The "nuclear" zombies were great and when our protagonist was stuck in that house, I was on the edge of my seat.
Awesome series of books!!
Non stop action, non of which corny or unrealistic
Narrator is great
The ending is f---ing crazy!! Unexpected!! Interesting!! Left me with thoughts of....holy s--t,WTF,I need to know what happens!!!
I love listening to distracting SciFi while on long commutes to jobsites, or working in the garage. Favorites: Apocalyptic, Space, Vampire
Way to fight back! The story deviates from other survival novels in where we see a last bastion of military doing work!
Probably my favorite book in the series
I love the continuing story in book 2 of this series. I also enjoy how seriously the story plays out along with the great attention to detail that goes into this book...I wont give it away, however Im not a huge fan of what the author introduces as a reason, and describes how the world began to fall apart. Dont get me wrong, its definitely worth continuing this story and I love how its unfolding, hance why I gave it 5 stars...but once again Im just not a fan of the origin of this apocalypse as chosen by the author...I really hate the idea of mixing the two ideas together, and it kind of feels cliche now too like an old 80's horror film...I think it takes enough work for any author to make the dark and foreboding zombie universe theyre creating to sound plausible and "realistic", along with end of the world being believable through a zombie uprising (which I enjoy getting into); but then this author adds an additional layer of 'rediculousness' that you have to further overcome to learn what caused the outbreak of zombies in the first place. I think you'll know what I mean one you finish book 2. Overall, the situation causing the destruction of mankind chosen here doesnt remotely detract from the story (yet) and I hope it doesnt interrupt the plot of book 3 too much. Still loving this book and series. Must buy if you're a zombie fan and want to listen to some quality work.
This story line continues to be One Of the best Post Apocalyptic books ever. I just finished "The Remaining" series, And can't help but notice how much better that series Is read. Intonation and a real connection with the story escapes this Narration almost until the very end when you can audibly tell he actually had read, enjoyed and connected With the book compared to the first 3/4 of the story. It really detracts from narration and connection you build with it.
I got lost abut in all the weapon and military jargon. Much more than the first book. I still listened through to the end. At times I just mentally phased out unlike in the first book.
