I've listened to 10-12 audio books now, and this was the most difficult to get through without giving up on it. Very standard story, cliched throughout, full of eye-rolling machismo. Not very suspenseful. Narrator did a decent job except for the leprechaun voice (which was intended to be an Irish female love interest). Some books really do a good job of drawing you in. This one failed miserably at that.
Story kept me on the edge of my seat, another good book by J Patterson.
The story begins with Jack Morgan restarting the detective firm "Private" that his father used to run. As with all detective agencies, there is more than one investigation going on and I found that very interesting as the author, James Patterson, revealed and incorporated three plots of three different investigations into the story. There are great characters in the story and a lot of action.
I am looking forward to reading the 2nd book in the series: Private #1 Suspect.
The narrator was excellent.
This is something as unusual as a "series" book, with a satisfying end to all story lines. Me likey! No great mysteries to confuse the reader. Everything is done in the open. Not a deep or tension driven book, but simply a competent thriller. Recommended.
