I'm not usually a fan of collaboratively-written mysteries, but Patterson and Paetro are an exception. The women's murder club series and Private have kept me intrigued all the way to the conclusion.
I am convinced that listeners are influenced GREATLY by a authors past works when purchasing a book......this author's works are becoming more disappointing as he continues to churn out words......
PRIVATE was/is very disappointing......too fragmented....flight of ideas, jumping from one thread to another...loosely connected......don't waste your time or money !!!!!!
I promised myself that is I figured out the most obvious plot line, I would return this book. I figured it out way (WAY) too soon.
I try and I try to give James Patterson the benefit of the doubt. Yet, he keeps making me angry. Peter Hermann did a great job, given what he had to work with. Normally, I wouldn't berate a book because who am I to knock a writer. I'd never consider giving a book a"one-star" rating. I haven't written one, so I can't be the pot calling the kettle black. My head is swishing waves of disappointment so badly, I can barely keep it lifted.
Not really for me. I like the Jack Reacher and Harry Bosch series a lot better.I might give James Patterson another try on a different series.
Having read Private L.A. I wanted to get to know more about the series. So I listened to the first book of the series... Private. I was very pleased in what I heard. Excellently narrated, this book was very polished. I enjoyed the many plots and subplots that were happening simultaneously, Can't wait to read the next ones,
Old Broad with Keyboard
Yes! Lots of action. The premise is so good I wish it were true. Very believable.
The Plot was very good & I never even saw the ending coming. What a surprise! I love it when that happens.
Aww - the main character of course. He could've laid there & whined or just given in but he pulled up his Big Boy pants, got mad & got results! A very good thing for a man with a new potentially world changing business. And it was all very believable.
No, but I couldn't put it down. I had to know.
Don't get this book unless you want to buy the whole series. It bites back.
The characters and narration are good, but the underlying plot leaves you wishing they put more effort into it. Still a worthy listen... a 3.5 really.
James and Maxine have done it again! This is a great read just like most of thier work together. The story itself grabs you from the very beginning and holds on throughout the whole book. The characters are great and you really get invested in the story. The readers do a great job of getting the story right as well. Would reccomend this book to all.
